Hi there, my name is SFDFS Games (Its on my birth certificate)

I'm working on a game called the Cabin where you are an overnight security guard working at a very remote cabin. This will be my first real 3d game and horror game. I'm super excited about finishing it and putting it into the hands of players.

I've always had seasons.

When I say seasons I mean throughout the year my hobbies and interests would change and with them my level of productivity. So this year in October I was doing filmmaking and getting really into that. I made two shorts (the second one sits in editing hell right now) and I really thought game design was behind me.

I had only opened Godot in the last year and a half to mess around with a shader or try a new little mechanic. After getting my hit of dopamine it was back to whatever else I was doing.

But then...

I was working with a friend on some CGI stuff for a little detective test scene we filmed. I put a dead body into the scene using Godot and Premiere.

Mega Awesome Dead Body On The Floor!

It kinda sparked my interest in a horror game. So I started on making an "engine" inside Godot that I could use to make any horror game story I wanted. The game would be a basic walking simulator with puzzles, platforming, progression gates, and of course monsters.

The original idea I started on while building the engine was a broken down facility you had to explore and get the systems working again. All while a disembodied "voice" (text prompts) led you to your goal. This quickly became too big for me. So I decided to put that project away and tighten my scope with a one location horror game. (The game now has two locations...)

So a month ago I started on the cabin. I didn't have a story in mind, I didn't know what the loop would be. I just started building, decorating, coding and making events and progression for the player.

I've learned alot about blender in that month and though most assets are bought for the sake of time, a few contributions are straight from yours truly.

Ya, ya boi is an mf 3D artist

So ya, I'm a month into a project I didn't expect and it should be finished soon (hopefully within 2 weeks but we'll see...)

I don't have a steam page up yet, but I do have this Itch.io page and some promotional materials.

Check out the training video/trailer (actual teaser is at the end.)

Amazing educational tool! Thank you!

Hi everyone, I'm new in town and I just released my first game (in early access).

I'd love some feedback on how to round out this game.

Some things I'm interested in:

  • Is it fun? My collaborator and I have had fun stacking boxes but does the normal player?
  • What new features would help to increase longevity of play?
  • What features would you like to see in a game like this?
  • Are there any bugs, (game-breaking or otherwise)?
  • Lastly, how's your day? (not enough people ask this)

Thanks to everyone who reads this and double thanks to anyone who gives me any feedback, you're the GOAT.
