I mean; Leo's best ending has nobody in your main cast die and you still end up with someone

I just did TJ's and Leo's routes today (with the intentions of doing Flynn's next then Jenna's)

I actually; really like Leo's route, and I can't wait for whatever context the other routes have to add to it.

Basically be as Yuu as Yuu possibly can be

Be honest with Saya

Then be thick headed and never back down at any opportunity following that point, be it from Shoichi, Shoichi's dad, nobody, back down from nobody and rush forward just as Yuuichi (much to the annoyance of others) would.

That is how you get the A route without outright telling you the specific choices

But if you want them

Honest with Saya

I still mean it

Equivalent to: Ignore your father

I can't bring myself to stay silent

Be Firm/Stern (Just don't be apologetic)

And Keep Pushing

I believe that is all of the options but if there are more just remember: When in doubt on Shoichi's route; just do what Yuuichi would do, rush forward without backing down from anything and without thinking about the consequences of anything (also put off talking about college whenever the opportunity arises just like how Yuu hasn't really been into college), so far picking the options that line up more with how Yuu usually is seems to about always direct the player down the A route with Sho (I mean; sho did fall in love with Yuu after all; would be kinda silly if backing down from everything and keeping his mouth shut were the right decisions cause according to literally everyone in the game; that ain't Yuuichi)

No idea, but odds are he is busy trying to resolve Bugs from the recent update while scrambling to get the Keisuke update ready for Patrons

No real idea though

It was a bug that Basket was told about and said should be resolved in the next update

Nope; only Shoichi has branches so far

Just select ignore

Just be firm and stubborn at all circumstances and be honest with Saya; just be Yuuichi in all his Yuuichi ways

Right Click to open the save menu; you can then load from there

Unless you are on android; I cannot help there cause I don't play on android

Probably during a Renpy update; he updates renpy whenever a new one comes out and transfers all files

It skips to when you choose your route

(2 edits)

Yeah; we have yet to know Keisuke's secrets; unless it really just is that he is self absorbed and has to struggle to overcome them alongside learn to draw a line when being abused.

spoilers again

But so far in each route Shoichi has been the least selfish of the love interests, he is just having a bad streak now in his B and C branches, and Jun's literally is a route of him being selfish, manipulative, and dishonest until his dishonesty and selfishness caused a genuine disaster, I think it is just easy to forget that cause said disaster has already passed and now he is trying to salvage what happened and make it right. Everyone wears a social mask to an extent but not all craft it specifically around manipulating people, and part of me suspects that Jun's route is going to have some pretty serious conflict later on, and yeah so far all keisuke is is self-absorbed (which is made very apparent on his date with yuuichi) and way too okay with being abused (something it seems he and Shoichi may have in common depending on what Takehiko does to Sho). Like; we have two characters who are actually being abused by their families psychologically (well; specifically their dad's side of the family) and had it normalized to where they would BOTH blame themselves for it anyway (Keisuke saying he associated being hit with this feeling that it was discipline for being out of line and Shoichi saying that he deserves how he is treated cause he would never do anything right otherwise); like, that is kinda f@cked up. Yes Jun is depressed but he genuinely is showered with love; his depression is not so much because of abuse or neglect but because his sole passion is made more difficult by his condition; his life is piano but if he does not learn to take care of himself and have a life outside of piano it may kill him, that is his condition. Of the family and living situations we have seen Jun is the least abused and harmed Love Interest but so far has been both the most selfish and the most harmful, and unlike the other two routes where the darker moments are usually due to a clash against Yuuichi's shortcomings (Shoichi clashing with Yuuichi's hypocrisy that they both share alongside his own personal fears, Yuuichi having an abusive side show when Keisuke let what may be hinting at control issues show when he tried to leave to control Yuuichi's involvement in his life and his family's involvement in Yuu's); Jun's big clash is exclusively over not wanting Yuu to learn of his condition while Jun actively tries to manipulate and lie his way into Yuuichi's heart. The only big thing Yuuichi even does that seems to clash with Jun at all is just be a clueless f@cker when it comes to how people feel; particularly himself. Thankfully Jun does not really blame Yuu for anything.

(1 edit)

That and Jun has issues too, one issue in particular that his mishandling of lead to pretty severe consequences for Yuuichi.

Spoilers

Every character has issues; it is just that Sho's are appearing now and we have yet to see the consequences of them (and remember; in both Shoichi's case now and Jun's case then, whatever bad may or may not happen in Sho's route could have been avoided by being open; same as how Yuuichi would not be in the state he's in in Jun's route now if Jun had been open). Like, nobody can honestly say that Shoichi having walls up now and trying to distract himself from them alongside hide them from Yuu is all that different or even worse than Jun actively lying to and manipulating Yuu while going through such lengths to hide his condition that he seriously ran into the street to get away from Yuuichi in an attempt to keep hiding it. Yes blaming Jun for Yuuichi deciding to push him out of the way of a car is wrong, but it would also be kinda sucky to pretend that it isn't a consequence of Jun doing the exact same thing Shoichi is doing now; that being running from tearing his walls down. That and on the A route it really does look like Sho might stop running before there is a serious issue; only WOTB knows when Sho will stop running in the other two. I at least can almost guarantee that Jun would have continued to run from being honest and gone through further lengths to hide his issues too if not for the accident. Like; if how Shoichi is acting now during the B and C routes ruins him for you then go to Keisuke cause Jun had the same issue and no chance to resolve it without Yuuichi getting crippled, and so far it looks like in the A route that Shoichi may just be capable of it without needing someone to be severely hurt.

I don't know if Sho will ever fall from Goodest Boi status for me, but if he does there is not a chance Jun would be taking his place there. His actions so far have just been a bit too selfish in most moments for Sho having a bad streak in the current moment to let that switch happen; especially if Sho's current bad streak really is just his life and mind falling apart. Maybe Keisuke but that route can go in any direction really in the current moment.

Maybe the love triangle of which artemi spoke was Sidd, Cole, and Clyde

My pleasure.

It is one line in the script which is not referenced properly in the code; just choose ignore and continue

Just use ignore; it is just a specific line in the script that was not referenced properly so you will skip to the following line using ignore

Spoilers, but not for any of the new content

I mean; he has very real issues (as do each of the characters in the game)I personally just remember that the B and C route both require Yuu acting out of character to achieve (backing down when it regards family and someone he cares about and/or lying to Saya when he practically already figured she was onto them; which is something he immediately tries to fix in that case).

I think it is also important to remember that arguments happen, and sadly both Sho and Yuu in the C route are getting upset with each other for the same thing, neither of them are being fully open and vulnerable with the other and are walling the other off; it is pretty clear that Shoichi only really responds this way around Yuu due to things such as resentment built over Yuu's hypocrisy (which they both share on that front).

Time will only tell if the other routes split, but cracks in the Keisuke route have already started to form so it may happen soon unless whatever issues arise there just have a one branch path that doesn't split (He and Sho do get into arguments over their similarities too, and Keisuke's relationship with his dad already seems like it is going to work its way into the issues already arisen there at some point, actually Keisuke having some outbursts over his dad is something I can 100% see happening), and the Jun route is kinda already in chaos at the moment. But again; time will tell

Yes; technically 3 in 1 if you count the cut Shoichi content that was added back in

So like setting flags (bools) in C# that get marked true false etc for each decision and having events check for specific flags later.

Or something of the like I am just guessing cause I only know aspects of C#, or adding every decision to a list and having the game parse the list! I dunno I'm just making silly guesses at this point.

Spoilers

The route the original commenter got was the bad route, You get the good route by being honest with Saya and then speaking out, being true to Yuuichi's thoughts, and not backing down then when you keep pressuring  Shoichi to spend time with his mom. Then he wont explode at you afterwards and he will see his mom soon afterwards.

If that was not descriptive enough. Honest with Saya, I still mean it, Ignore your Father, I cannot bring myself to be silent, Be Firm, Keep Pushing. As of yet I do not know if or how the origami crane comment factors into any later events cause currently it does not, but the route above will lead to the Good Route. Plus

spoilers again

Yuuichi realizing he had BEEN in love with Shoichi for a while only happens on the Bad Route so far. He will probably still make that discovery on the other routes eventually, but in current versions of the game if there is a scene where Yuuichi confesses being in love it is the Bad Route.

My pleasure

All of these spells are in D&D 5e; which is where Temptation's Ballad gets its spells from as well

You can find Counterspell in the Player's Handbook, Phantasmal Force in the Player's Handbook, Dissonant Whispers in the Player's Handbook, and Synaptic Static in Xanathar's Guide to Everything, but what each of these spells do in D&D 5e can also be found in 5e spell list apps and sites.

Counterspell, Phantasmal Force, and Dissonant Whispers are all spells that came from older editions and were just updated for D&D 5e. Counterspell allows a caster to snuff out a spell as it is being cast but Bards do not naturally learn it unless it is one of their Magical Secrets (a trick only bards get that lets them learn any spell in existence regardless of class, species, age, etc; it lets them ignore any and every requirement for learning a spell outside of needing to be a high enough level of caster to cast it i.e.: a 9th level spell such as wish requires a Bard to be able to cast 9th level spells for their magical secrets to let them learn it, EDIT: I forgot to mention the first time around but Bards get 6 spells through their magical secrets with one specialization (Lore Bard) getting 2 additional Magical secrets much earlier on than any other bard specialization for a total of 8 if a Bard goes down that one specific path), Phantasmal Force creates a Phantasm that the target perceives and will believe is real that can interact with them but only they can see it (really versatile and whack spell that is as effective as the caster is clever), and Dissonant Whispers via methods of fear, compulsion, or the like psychically damages the target and forces them to run away from the caster as far as they can without doing something like falling into a pit (knowingly; it can force them to fall into a hidden pit); casters can use this for many things but Bards will usually do it to buy distance from a target to flee or reposition, or to open a target up to attacks of opportunity from their allies since nobody is immune to the effect even if they are immune to psychic damage, but again the more clever the caster the more busted it is. Kinda how it is for like all of the Bard's kit; perfect at support and perfect at manipulation and control, though Shirokoi can adjust everything to whatever extents he wishes cause ultimately it is his world, game, and story; it just uses the D&D ruleset (which the 5E rulebooks themselves say can be tweaked and broken  in any way the DM wishes, and in Temptation's Ballad, Shirokoi is the DM).

Synaptic Static is Fireball if Fireball did psychic damage (hurt your psyche and mind to the point of actually damaging you), and then just makes the person worse at everything for a minute without requiring concentration, but it also notably (and directly) states that it also penalizes concentration checks for those who fall under its effects; so it is a pretty strong anti-caster spell. It penalizes everything by muddling the thoughts of its targets, and if I was to say anything inspired it I would say it was some designer somewhere saying "What if we took fireball, made it do Psychic damage which almost nothing resists, made it require a target overcoming its effects with sheer intellect (which is the usual stat for any character to have suck), and then make it so everyone who fails to overcome it just gets worse at everything for a bit".

If you meant the inspiration behind saying these spells fit Cole though; Counterspell is the perfect anti-caster spell and since it is an instant reaction spell it would still be easy enough for him to cast it in a subtle enough to hide way like he does prestidigitation, be it a specific strum of the lute or the like, but really cause even though every bard is recommended to take it in actual D&D as a magical secret (because only two specific kinds of specialized casters are better at it than bards are for reasons that can be looked up for anyone who is curious, one of them being a specific kind of wizard subclass/specialization (abjuration) and the other (and best one) being the lore subclass/specialization of Bard, and other than those two specific specializations every caster will be worse at it than a Bard) Cole notably enjoys f@qing with and toying with people, and the easiest way for Cole to deny any Noble wizard from accomplishing anything would just be to Nope their magic away. Of course Bards have to get pretty strong before Magical Secrets (outside of Lore Bards who get it really early at 6th level out of 20 levels and then get a bunch of them later), all but one kind of Bard needing to reach 10th level (again out of 20 levels) to get access to their first few magical secrets, so Cole probably wont be playing around with that until he starts to actually accept his spellcasting more openly (unless he ends up becoming a Lore Bard, but I don't even know if he has specialized yet and I don't think his abilities would go lore over options like Eloquence (the manipulative and charismatic bard) or the like for early secrets, no idea though).

Dissonant Whispers is a "Get-out-of-Melee-Range-Jail-Free" spell and when mixed with his illusions and usual habits of playing tricks could come in a lot of handy; such as when someone is trying to grab him and he prefers not to get strangled or mauled at that current moment, or when he wants to force someone to set off a hidden trap; run into the "loving arms" of an angry monster, cower back into the arms of someone else to humiliate them, the possibilities are endless depending on the scenario and setup.

Phantasmal Force lets him F@q with someone's head; since they will believe it as real, it makes all sounds and noises, and even though they will pass through it (such as falling through a Phantasmal Bridge) if they try to touch it; they will still believe it was real no matter how they have to rationalize it. Ya want someone to appear mad in broad daylight? Phantasmal force since only the target can see it, and if it stabs them or does anything to them it will be real enough to them that they will still take damage. Ya want someone to attack a friend? Phantasm yourself over them; they will believe the lies it speaks as it stands in the same place as their friend; the fact that they overlap makes rationalizing the person having been disguised as their friend easy. Hell; making a specific person see a second Cole or second Sidd on its own could really mess with a target; since they will believe the Phantasm is real, and since the Phantasm can be anything that can fit within the space of a 10foot by 10foot cube be it living or inanimate; it can do or be about anything Cole can imagine. 2nd level spell too (counterspell is 3rd, dissonant whispers is 1st level, Synaptic static is 5th level) so Cole is probably just about to hit the threshold where he can learn it (Bards like all Full Casters get 2nd Level spells when they hit 3rd level in their class; 3rd level is also where Bards Specialize so Cole if he is a low level Bard (which would make sense) may be unable to hit that threshold until he is ready to be real with Marrow about his casting, or he is just about to hit that point, or he is going to have to train with Sidd's mom more, but he also could already be past that point, time will tell and I can only remember Cole casting 1st level spells and 0th-level/Cantrips up to this point (I forget if he has cast suggestion or not but I can 100% guarantee without any doubt he will be slinging that spell around the moment he has it and it is a 2nd level spell which he gets access to as soon as he is a 3rd level bard), but Disguise Self is 1st Level which Bards can cast those at start, Charm person is 1st level, Prestidigitation is a Cantrip/0th level. all spellcasters can cast level 1 and 0 spells upon the manifestation of their magical abilities, just they can only cast level 1 spells 2 times per long rest as a level 1 caster and 3 times as a level 2 caster and level 0 spells are always infinite, that and Cole casting Disguise Self twice in a row and getting super drained by it also implies he would be either a 1st level Bard and that is the full extent of his casting without a rest or that he is a 2nd level Bard and only has another Charm Person or Disguise Self in his tank before he is stuck with Mage Hand and Prestidigitation, but even then if he was a 2nd level Bard he would probably be learning another spell soon. Sorry; I am a colossal nerd, and once again; Shirokoi gets to write and work with it all however he wants and that would genuinely still be rules as written D&D 5e since it again states that the final say on every rule and everything is the DM's and they can rewrite any rule they wish.

Synaptic static is cause getting a large group of people to suddenly become worse at everything seems up Cole's alley, but also cause I want to see a much stronger Cole hit Calder with it and ruin his entire career again later in the story.

Sorry about the huge walls of text. I just wanted to Geek out a little and speculate a little; thank you for your time!

(1 edit)

Warning I make a speculative guess that I do not elaborate on, but I do mention a name that does not appear until a little later on and I mention a concept that is brought up later on than that (just before the route split) so minor name spoiler and a spoiler on wishes.

Why do I have the strangest suspicion that the remnant is what Echo becomes and loses pieces of himself to on failed routes. I have a lot of feelings and thoughts that feed into this idea but I will not elaborate on them currently cause really a lot can change in the routes in time.

Edit: and yes this is after most of Sissel's route that is currently in the game

Not joking about Phantasmal Force and Dissonant Whispers though; getting people to hear unsettling whispers; take psychic damage, and force them to run the fuck away alongside getting people to hallucinate something they perceive and will rationalize as real to the point of it being able to harm them seem 100% up his alley, now it just takes him being in a mental state or environment where he could learn them cause they are both spells he is of a level to cast.

(1 edit)

I cannot wait to see what other spells Cole will learn as time goes on

I personally feel like he is gonna pick up Dissonant Whispers, Phantasmal Force, and eventually Synaptic static cause control spells are funny, or even pick up counterspell once he gets the Bard Patented "Magical Secrets", but I have no true idea really. I just feel those fit his trickster and plan foiling personality (aside from all the illusion spells that he will get access to alongside the 100% completely going to be learned by him Suggestion spell)

Minor Spoilers, but not in the way you may expect. I would recommend not reading this until after you have completed a Shoichi playthrough.

First Spoiler, Shoichi has 3 major routes, of which it is heavily implied that they may branch more later. So if you do not want spoilers on contents of those routes play through all 3 Shoichi routes first before scrolling further.

Now for the rest. I personally suspect that if Haruki has a route; it is a route where he gets with Shoichi (Since Shoichi's route branches a lot and already has a "Bad Route" (or C route as referenced by WOTB and in the mini guide that can be found on this site) where I am fairly certain Haruki intended on making advances on him during the end of that route if Yuuichi did not patch up with Sho seriously the morning where Haruki asked Sho for some 1 on 1 volleyball practice, but even the "Good" and "Neutral Routes" have a decision you make (It is when you ask Saya for advice) where one decision leads to Yuuichi getting a lot more comfortable with Sho and states that he is happy for every moment he will spend with Shoichi, and the other leads to Yuuichi feeling like he may not ever be able to be comfortable enough to be open with Sho and heavily implies either a new "Bad Route B" being able to happen later Separate from the other bad route or a flat-out bad end potentially being on the horizon.), so if he does become an option; I can mostly see it as a branch off of the Shoichi route.

Basically; the writing is on the wall (in the case of someone who does not natively speak english reading that and misunderstanding; writing on the wall is an equivalent of saying something like "there are and have been signs of it being the case or maybe being the case like forshadowing in a way") for a branch in Shoichi's route where he ends up with Haruki; I could also see a secret Haruki route being hidden in that way where you have to get a specific bad route, but I find it a lot more likely for him to just try and make moves on Shoichi if you end up breaking Sho's heart (which could have been one of his intentions for trying to get Yuu to pursue Sho, cause if Yuu fucks up (which he has a history of doing) then there is a chance that Sho may be able to see Haruki's affections and maybe even develop them back, but even if that ends up being the case I would still prefer to believe that he does hope it works out so Sho can be happy, that and he seems to want to experience a relationship with Sho through Yuu (his questions and obvious fantasizing that he is trying to hide at some points gives that away) does make part of him genuinely wanting the relationship to work believable if that ends up being the case.)

Sorry about the kinda spoiler filled super rant, but basically; I think it is more possible for there to be Sho and Haruki branches in Sho's route than a true Haruki route, but maybe also a secret Haruki route in one specific set of branches within the Shoichi route. No idea though, mostly just inference.

It sounds like he is taking an extended break from Repeat to work on a project he is having more fun with in the meantime (This one); if he will return to Repeat is up to him

His most recent update to Repeat mentions that as well. I believe he will return to repeat once he has had a long enough break, but it really is up to him

True

Minor spoiler, but unlike the messages before there is a real spoiler here; so if you have not played all routes yet come back to this final comment later.

It could for Keisuke and Shoichi, but Jun's route is actually already past when that festival ends. It would be cool if there was a "we all merged but still are different" event (Such as Yuuichi's Birthday and the school trip which are events all routes would likely be a part of), but I know the festival at least wont be in Jun's route. In the public version his route currently ends the day after the festival does.

But you can skip the prologue after you have beaten it once

Still takes starting a new game though

(1 edit)

All characters were changed to be juniors and seniors in high school from what I heard; since it is apparently common in Japan (Due to how their school year starts and ends at different points in the year than the west) for Juniors to turn 18 their junior year and for seniors to start the school year 18 and turn 19 before graduating.

So nobody is underage anymore.

(6 edits)

So not really spoilers since I will mostly be talking about events that are brought up in the prologue as future events but have not happened yet, but also still kinda spoilers for people who have not played the prologue (Or most specifically shoichi's portion of the prologue when it is brought up even though it is not a spoiler about content within, just that it is where you find the info, and a minor spoiler being which route is the furthest along in the in-game school year when the content currently available ends but no spoilers beyond that).

I just realized how packed the beginning of the in-game month of July is going to be in this game; this is all also information you will obtain from the prologue so it is not a story spoiler, more so upcoming events in the game. For one; Yuuichi turns 19 in July (Learned from talking with Shoichi when in the athletics store on day 7), and we learn the school trip is in July as well on day 7. All of this comes just after a festival at the end of June going into July (which is also either just before and during or just after and during Yuuichi's tournament; which is first brought up with Shoichi if you choose him on day 10. Though the Festival is also only a topic that seems to ever come up during the Shoichi route from my memory playing through all the routes and seeing how interactions change based off of even seemingly minor decisions during the prologue. This also likely means that only Shoichi's route will probably include the festival. EDIT: I just double checked all the routes and the festival is brought up later on in Keisuke's route, so there is a slight chance his will also include it. I also just double checked the days it says it takes place on with Shoichi on day 10, and it goes until the in-game day of July 2nd; which means there will be 1 or 2 days after Yuuichi's Tennis tournament where it can be attended).
There are definitely more things that will happen during that month; especially considering the scenarios each route is currently left off in with their current end-day (Jun's is the furthest ahead for reasons I will not spoil, but the other two end on June 26th currently, just before Shoichi's route starts to get crammed with the events mentioned and before the other two routes have the School trip and Yuuichi's birthday events.)

I am exited for the in-game month of July really about sums it all up.

His reason for the late on this update was he believed the new content ended on a note he did not want it to end on so he added more stuff after the point where the new day would have ended last minute so it was not that way.

Tried to keep it spoiler free so it is about as spoiler free as it gets

Spoilers on comment above

I have a feeling that if it happens in the other routes it will be for other reasons. Unless it is to intervene in Jun making another attempt at his life and Jun picks that specific method I feel the reason will be more dependent on the route if it happens; such as Keisuke's being from a potential altercation with Alex. Though I could see it happening in Shoichi's and either Yuu or Sho will end up intervening.

Though I would prefer to not romanticize getting hit by a car and having to give up on my dreams; I just wonder what will spark the conversation between Yuuichi and his mom where the meaning of his name is brought up.

It is not the end of his story; just all that was in the current version. His story has an update coming. The order of updates will always be Shoichi, Keisuke, then Jun until one of them has their route conclude which wont be for a bit from all I know.

Now minor spoilers below.

I do believe his route will end the earliest due to the time skipped (unless the event that happens in his happens in every route eventually but I have no idea if that is the case) while Yuuichi was in the hospital and how there are likely a lot more events Yuuichi may not be able to participate in. His is the furthest along in the year after all.

Jun is the next public update
