Thank you for the feedback. I had all the input code in the physics_update which I think is why it misses inputs randomly. Good knowledge for the next time.

 First thing I did when tinkering with it after the jam ended was make checkpoints.

If anyone else is having trouble getting it to start, I just waited about 10-15 seconds after clicking 'Play' and it finally loaded.
