A whimsical adventure, head-scratching puzzle, wry comedy, psychological thriller (retail), and poetic masterpiece packed into one: little man's big day by Funderful Studios has captured the hearts of millions and recently supplanted Grand Theft Auto V for the position of #2 best-selling game of all-time. With the additional 2025 Game of the Year title under its belt, I wondered if this charming little game could live up to all the hype.
My doubts were quickly assuaged. Every inch of this game breathes whimsy, especially the lovingly crafted illustrations that appear sporadically throughout the game. While the satire is obviously the game's main selling point, its brilliant puzzles and mouthwatering visuals propel the quality of the experience even further. Additionally, the commentary on self-actualization and the sin of man challenges the player's preconceived notions of morality, as well as pushes the boundaries of what is "acceptable" to address in gaming.
Conclusively, little man's big day is a revolutionary video game, unafraid to tackle controversial topics. Its humor is unparalleled, as well as its visuals, and its voice acting. Truly, hats off to Johnathan A. Doeford as the voice of Little Man. Only a seasoned voice actor could bring the needed amount of grit and depth to the main character's voice. The music, as goes without saying, is superb, and serves as the cherry on top to this brilliant game. little man's big day is a modern masterpiece.
