PushThemOut
Thank you so much for your reply! We are very glad to hear it because we've been actually reworking the whole graphics design a couple of times ahah (just to compare how it was half a year ago for example :D ), thank you :)
Hey folks, let me present you our online co-op game: Push Them Out!
Description
You and your friends (or AI) are in generated space. Almost everything wants to kill you so be careful. The way you protect yourself from enemies is either to run from them or to push them out.
Google Play + Microsoft Store release
Since my last release announcement and its promotion here, on Twitter, Reddit, among my friends I got the following feedback:
So, what have we done to fix this?
Now you have 3 options to play the game and it doesn't really matter what option you or your friends choose because you will anyway play on the same servers 😉
Looking forward to your feedback!
1.5 years ago me and my friends (graphics designer and sound designer) got interested in online game development. We wanted to create a simple but catchy game from scratch (meaning to create networking communication, graphics, music all by ourselves) and so we developed the following prototype:
Basically this agario-like game represents a pool/billiards, you can't shoot, neither your enemies can and the only thing you can do is to push each other out, basically that became the main idea of the game.
But the thing is... it was hard to go further with this gameplay, although it was an interesting idea, it was hard to make it fun and challenging, so eventually we reworked the whole game design: first we added some collectables, because it was actually hard to push the enemies out, so we introduced another goal for players, then we added the ability to shoot (for both the players and some enemies) to diversify the gameplay, also we added lots of sources of danger such as asteroids, black holes, a final boss and so the game has become a pure action rather than just an unarmed pool, which is way more fun but we completely remade our game design which was initially set. See how much it has changed:
And what do you think? Was it a good idea to switch to the action genre? Or we should have continued to develop the idea of the pool? Looking forward to seeing your comments or any other ideas.
The game itself was published today on itch.io so you can check it out!
Hello the itch.io community!
As people who love playing co-op games (like Deep Rock Galactic, Helldivers, Trine, etc) and people who enjoy learning new things and creating we decided to learn how to make our own online co-op game from scratch. The idea was to create a 15-20 minutes game session (so it doesn't take too long) for friends to have fun, and each session should give a new experience due to randomness and world generation. We've been working on this project since the middle of 2021, refactoring the logic, graphics, music and now we think we are ready to share it with you. We hope you enjoy it :)
