Thank you for your feedback. :)

I somehow manage to allways forget about diagonal movement in my games and don't even notice it. Dangit.

The regular enemies are indeed just different sprites without different behaviour, that is a very good point for improvement. But there is a bit more to it:

The monsters get additional attacks (Like multishots or homing shots)  after a certain amount of days has passed (I think it was 6).

Also after i believe 4 days missions can have "special" enemies. Those should be indicated by the candles in the "menu" (Black smoking candles mean this mission has special enemies - But it doesn't seem to allways work reliably) and by the "boss music" playing on level start.

Those guys are basically minibosses who either hunt you down or wait for you at the "key" and "exit" locations. They have their own unique sprites and behaviours.

Aside from what you mentioned there is also still some jank (Like the inventory...) and a nasty issue with the final dungeon that i want to fix for good.

Thanks again for testing the game!

I made a thing and would love to know what people other than my video-game uneducated friends think about it.  ;)

The Court Witch is a fast paced, grimy, old school 3/4 View Shooter with a focus on random generation and "runs".

It's a bit like Dark Seal/Gate of Doom with some Gauntlet mixed in and an increasing emphasis on deflecting and dodging as the game goes on and becomes harder.

Here is the Story:

The Kingdom is in uproar! A crime wave has swept the Lands!

Can you stop it and find out who is behind it all?

Do you have what it takes to be...The Court Witch?

A roguelike top-down (Tilted 3/4 view) shooter...thing. With also a bit of melee and dodging.

** Warning: Contains Violence, Strong Language and Drug Usage **

Features:

-- 21 different spells

-- 21 different weapons

-- 40 different enemies

-- Cloudsurfing

-- Melee

-- Two different ways to finish the game

-- Gore

-- Difficulty increases over time

-- Liberal use of 90s game sprites (See credits for details on what was butchered)

-- Liberal use of 90s game music

Tips:

- Do "Missions" for the named Nobles to reveal who is behind it all and reach the Endgame Dungeon.

- Prioritize the "Gauntlet" Spawners

- Keep "Cloudsurfing" and Melee in mind

This is awesome.

The controls are a bit awkward (Atleast on the Rift S), snap-turning is a tad unresponsive and the controls generally could use more customization.

But other than that this is just fun to play.

Whoever owns the Wolf3D IP these days really dropped the ball here, i would gladly pay for a full, smoothed out version.

No problemo man, late reply from myself here lol.

Cool that you're improving the YT player. :)

As for the book-reader, this space room is best suited for it, i wouldn't really be interested in a castle or something else, sorry. ^_^

Just one further suggestion, for the PDF reader: Could you tweak it so it can properly read/open sub-folders? I created some sub-folders but unfortunately they're not showing up.

Keep up the great work!

This is awesome, very well done!

I use this to read a crapton of old comic books i have only in PDF form. Sitting in this luxury-star-trek-like shuttle reading silver age comic books is really an experience that gives me a big grin on my face.

I do have a question regarding the viewscreen/youtube-player though; How do i play anything else than the new-age stuff? :p

The info-text mentions something about a private-mode? I couldn't find anything, and i'd really like to have a working videoplayer (Or atleast a working youtube-plugin) in there.

As a suggestion, what would be even better would be if you could just display your desktop on that screen, like you can do in the "Oculus Home" for example.

Aside from that, this is how i read books now. Which is partly weird, and partly just awesome. :)

(1 edit)

Thanks for your suggestions, difficulty and movement are allways hard to get right. Especially when it comes to emulating classic arcade beat'em ups.

That reminds me, this game also needs a 2-player mode. :p

Hehe mission accomplished. Gotta warn people about those reptiloids.  ;)

Thanks for spreading the word man!

You totally did miss the "secret" character though. Or maybe you refrained from showing him due to his "infringy" nature? :p
