Could you provide us a bit more detail please?
In general, once you give Spinoff access to your Photos library, the app will have access to your images. As you may know, you can check the access setting through [Settings app > Privacy & Security > Photos > Spinoff].
In the editor, when you tap on the [+ > Background > Image > +Import > From camera roll], you should see the photos in your Photos library. You can also select a specific album by tapping on the album title between the 'Cancel' button and the 'Done' button on the top.
If it does not work as above, or your need is different, please do let us know. Thank you!
Hi Saitoki, this is Will from the Spinoff team.
First of all, thank you for participating in the jam. Your game was one of the team's favorites. I played it several times and was excited to see all four endings. Also, thank you for the postmortem and valuable feedback.
Spinoff is a new platform released just a few months ago, and we plan to update it rapidly. Perhaps the most significant feature we are working on relevant to your postmortem is the import from the Google Sheets feature. It will enable you to work on scripts and basic game structure on the Google Sheets document, then import it to the game. Initial implementation is almost complete; we just need to integrate it with the app. Works are progressing in many other areas, including design customization options and more streamlined audio support.
Let's keep in touch. Again, thank you!
Hi,
1. You can link a missing scene to other scenes using the "Set Scene Link" button in the bottom right.
2. You can set ending scenes by tapping the "Set Scene Link" and clicking the "No link, end here" option.

Hi Saitoki,
Of course, you can encourage players to rate your game and tweet about it! This will never go against our rules. You can also attach hashtags such as #Spinoffevent2, #Spinoff, or #Interactivestoryjam to your Twitter message to attract more people. Below is the link to Spinoff's Twitter. Please check this, and let's follow each other 🤗.
Could you send us an email at hello@playspinoff.com? If possible, please include your device model and iOS version information.
We suspect either something related to the iOS version or the network. I think we should be able to resolve the issue after trying a few simple things.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you.
Hi kaptainviciorious,
We, too, are excited that you are making a game on Spinoff. Though I do not know how explicit the pics will be, if the game shows no nudity and doesn't describe sexual acts, I do not think it will be an issue. If you want to, you can send us some sample images, and I can ask my colleague responsible for the matter.
By the way, below is the Age Rating of the Spinoff app on the App Store. I guess you could refer to it as a guide.
12+
Infrequent/Mild Mature/Suggestive Themes
Infrequent/Mild Horror/Fear Themes
Infrequent/Mild Sexual Content and Nudity
Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence
Please let us know if you have any questions or need more detailed answers. You can reach us at hello@playspinoff.com as well.
Thank you!
Hi! There are two ways for you to access the tutorial. You can simply use either of them :)
1. Go to the game editing page and find the menu icon on the top left. Now tap the 'Help' button, and you will see the 'Quick tips How to use editor' image on the top. Just click it.
2. Go to the explore page and find the search icon on the top right. Then, enter "Editor Tutorial."
Hope this helps. Cheers!
Hi ms_NightBlade!
You can join our jam using one of your or your friends' itch.io accounts. Alternatively, I guess you could create an account representing your group and use it if you prefer.
Either way, when you submit your game, you will see a short form asking if you worked on it alone or as a group. If it is as a group, it will also ask for usernames associated with the group.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions or need more clarification. Thank you!
Thank you for your feedback. We had a lot of discussions on how to structure the rewards during the preparation. Ultimately, we settled on increasing the prizes for first-place and runners-up. We particularly wanted to increase the rewards for the runners-up compared to our last jam.
I am not sure if it would be possible to edit the distribution mid-jam, but if you have suggestions, we would love to know. We will refer to it for our next jam, if not for this one.
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your SoundCloud page. Really enjoyed your works. I visited the page intending to skim through for a few seconds. Now I am playing them from start to end. I will inform my colleagues about you if we need to update audio tracks in our app. I hope others find this helpful as well!
Hi everyone,
We are so excited to announce the winners today!
Before announcing the winners, though, we would first like to explain how the winners were selected. The two main criteria are as below.
1. People's choice vote, i.e., the public votes, and,
2. Spinoff team members' assessments.
The weights given to each were 70% and 30%. For public votes, we have used itch.io's Score* values derived from the RawScore values. The Score* value favors both the higher scores and the higher number of votes and is what itch.io uses in jams by default.
The Judge's choice in the Results section is the final result adding the numbers from the above two. I will not repeat the final results here; please check them by visiting the results page. Or even better, check them in the Spinoff app for the expérience spéciale :)
Congratulations to everyone who won. We will contact you using email within 24 hours. Please respond to the email so we can continue with the transactions.
Once again, thank you so much to everyone for participating. As we have mentioned, we plan to make the jam a regular event, with the next one coming in July. In the meantime, please do continue creating wonderful stories in Spinoff. You will be able to submit any of your works to the next jam as long as they were not part of the previous jam.
We hope everyone enjoyed this as much as we did. Thank you.
Best regards,
Spinoff Team
Hi cristanzackry,
First of all, thank you for giving us the heads up. There seems to be a bit of misunderstanding, though, due to how we calculate the play counts. Before we go any further, we are to blame for the confusion, and we apologize for this.
We calculate the play counts using a set of rules. Currently, these rules are on the very conservative side. For example, until last week, if a person played a game multiple times, it counted it only once, on the first play. I was told that this was to prevent spamming. However, as you can imagine, this caused confusion. Since then, we have been making modifications for a more relaxing play count algorithm.
However, the most significant cause for the discrepancy in the numbers is that we are not including the play counts from the game sessions played on the itch.io web page. Our original sharing methods did not include the HTML export. We added it as a beta feature at the very last minute, without the play count built-in.
It was an oversight, and I apologize for the confusion. I hope the above can clarify the issues, though. I still believe the play count algorithm is a bit too conservative. We will make updates to make it more reliable.
Again, thank you for letting us all know of the issue and providing the opportunity for clarification. If you find anything else unusual or have any suggestions or feedback, please let us know anytime.
Thank you!
Hi,
The description on the jam page is as below.
You need at least 10 ratings to be considered for winning. If there are less than twenty independent submissions, we reserve right to decrease the number of winners.
So, the number of ratings you need is 10. The twenty independent submissions above meant twenty submitted games, not the ratings. We apologize for the confusion.
Also, please note that the rating is public, i.e., anyone with an itch.io account can participate. You do not have to have a game submitted to rate.
Please let us know if you have any questions or further clarifications. Thank you!
Hi, seems like you have,
- submitted the game to your itch.io account, but
- did not submit it to our jam.
Since we know you had the intention to join the jam from your previous postings, and the game was made before the deadline, I believe we should accept your game to the jam. I will see how we might be able to do it, and get back to you. We have checked the email as well, so we will send you an email reply.
Thank you!
Oh, and one more thing.
It seems that you have already uploaded the game to your itch.io account. In such case, all you have to do is,
- Tap the Submit your project button on the top of our jam page, then,
- Choose the game you want to submit under the Existing game section on the following screen, fill in the information, and click on the Submit button.
I hope this helps. Again, if the above does not work, or you need any assistance, please let us know anytime.
Thank you!
Hi!
On our game jam page, a section titled "How to submit?" explains how you can submit your game. Were you able to complete all seven steps? If not, could you tell me which step you are having trouble with?
Also, yes, you can submit multiple games. However, each participant will be eligible for only a single prize. We wrote about this in the item #8 of the "Rules" section.
Thank you so much for participating in the jam. Again, if you keep experiencing issues, please provide us with a bit more detail, and we will try to resolve them promptly. You can send us an email at support@playspinoff.com as well.
Thank you!
