The new demo sounds quite exciting, I'm looking foward to it. ^_^ November to December's actually kind of convienent since it's close to Christmas. XD I was wondering how much the full version of Chess of Blades will cost? Also, Silas is one of the romanceable characters, right? Is he the side romance, or is that someone else?
*For those who have not played this game, beware! For this comment may hold spoilers for all the routes.*
I've enjoyed what I've played of this game so far (I'm putting off the rest for until more of the game is completed). I really like the MC's ability, though I do think it would be nice to find out a little more about it. Mainly because I wonder about the implications of her relationships with the characters of the books. Like how the romantic relationships would play out in end for the fictional characters who don't actually exist (A.K.A. at this point, Max, Emil & Bianca); how that would affect the MC, whether she'd be able to eventually control where she enters the book's story from and what would happen when she reaches the end of the book (goodness, that seems depressing :O) . . .
When it comes to things outside of the books, I also kind of wonder about whether the effects of her interactions stay within the book she sleeps on or extends to all the books that share the same title (though I imagine it's likely the former). And since the photography book is an autobiography, would the MC's relationship with "book-world" Lucas affect the actual Lucas if they met in real life? I'm guessing not because Louis knew of things beyond his time in the science route. But would it really not have any effect at all other than on the MC's memories? (BTW, I've played three of the photography scenes, all the availible lit and philosophy and the first science ending. I put off photography 'cause it's almost complete.) I just kind of I wonder about how she'd deal with that . . . apologies, I wonder about a lot of things. XD
It is also odd that so far only Max clearly realizes that you're not supposed to be . . for lack of a better word, there. XD He's also the only person to comment on how your appearance hasn't changed in the science and philosophy routes, where there are large gaps in time. Anyway, the only problem I had while playing was keeping track of how time passed in Demian. I got confused after the night when Emil was drunk, and couldn't calculate the characters' ages or the date from that point on. I liked reading Emil's diary to have an idea of what happened inbetween, but it left me befuddled, prolly 'cause I haven't even heard of the book before. So that's likely just on me. XD There was one other thing that was a tad confusing, the transition to the first microbiology ending was a little sudden and it took a moment for me to get a good sense of what going on.
Oh, and there is the fact that the second microbiology ending continues to eluuude me! :O I really enjoyed what's in the game already and look forward to future updates. It's super cool that the art style changes in each book, therefore giving the MC a new a look. The cat's great and it's lovely to befriend her, I hope I took good care of her. X3 Hmm, this comment ended up much bigger than I wanted, hope it's not too troublesome. >_<
I've been having similar problems, my game froze in December and the last time I saved was in October (I need better gameing habits. XD But now, my game freezes every single time I get to the lunch choice instead of every other time. I was wondering if it may have to do with the scene I had the day before where Emmett shows up to work. Because until then, while the game froze often since the first time it happened, I was able to force past it by saving and re-loading.
I just finished the demo, it's so cool! Read the previous review before I played and I have to agree that the music is great, and really creates atmosphere. I love the the art style, I particulary am fond of Nora and Ally's art. The backgrounds (even if a few are placeholders) were easy on the eye and natural-looking. By natural-looking I referring to how some visual novels have some BGs that somewhat defy common sense. The setting and the way it's depicted is so awesome. Nature based aesthetics are super neat in my opinion.
Can`t say that I have any favourite characters yet, I like them all. lol The characters are all so colourful and personable. Even Spencer, with his mushroom-kicking ways. XD I'm curious to see just what he experienced compared to Nora. But yeah, all in all, it's been a while since I've found such an eye-grabbing visual novel. Really pulls you in, in a good way of course. :D Pardon me if I come across a bit too excited, but what can I say? I'm psyched, glad I came on itch.io today. I really enjoyed your demo and wish you good luck with developement. ^_^
P.S. The title screen is beeeautiful. lol I really, really enjoy titlescreens.
Hey there, I just finished Emmitt's route. (Yup, I'm trying to fit in as many game hours as possible during the final countdown to the new school year.) Here are the things I noticed:
- On Emmitt's route after he receives dog tags from Dallas, Robin can talk to Dallas about it. After he asks Apollo do forgive him for "blasphemey", there's a strange sentence. "He smiled a looked back down on me."
- At the AMPs when talking to the tabloid reporter when Emmitt starts to say something to the reporter, Robin thinks "Christ in jetpack, boy ...". I thought that there may be a typo there.
- After the reporter leaves and Robin says that Emmitt's not cooler than her it says, "I slugged him on the shoulder and he giggle-snorted. What was cute enough to make me laugh, too."
Hey, I'm new to itch.io and was pointed in this game's direction by a youtuber I watch. I've just completed the Golden Boy path and I have to say that I love it. That was the my first choice of route since I thought it might lead more into the past than the others. I haven't even tried open-ended mode yet, and there's still so much content I haven't seen in story mode which makes me really excited. I saw that you guys were still in beta and were open to info about bugs or typos so I tried to jot down what I noticed (in notepad of all things). I missed five scenes, it would seem that I had a bit a speed run. I'm planning to check them out later so if I see anything I'll let you know?
These are the things I noticed:
- In the second conversation with Jammy, there's a typo where she uses present instead of past tense. "I mean, I just *remember* we didn't decide what day or what time to go out so ..."
- On Dallas' path, after Robin visits Sterling by herself and she can talk to Dallas about it (he asks her) it says "I was so sick and tired of every *cross* thing that came out of his mouth." I was wondering if cross was supposed to be crass.
- When Robin and Dallas go music hopping during a hang out, in the vinyl store when they enter there's a typo. It says "Thankfully, we split up at the door and went down different *ailses*.
I don't mean to sound uppity or anything >_< (some people say I have a bad habit of sounding condescending).
I'm super stoked about this game since it's just so fun to play and there's so much content. Sorry, I'm not very good at constructive criticism. XD Rock Robin is a lovely game and I can't wait to explore the other parts of the game!
