This is a cute little romance-slice of life VN. Took me like 4 and a half hours over a few days to finish it. I thought I'd post some thoughts about it here for anyone who's curious.
Art: I've followed some of the people who contributed art to this for a while so maybe I'm a little biased but I thought the art was endearing and cute for the most part with maybe a couple exceptions. No complaints about the look of main cast though. The backgrounds are good and all have some solid level of detail in them. The only significant complaint I have is that sometimes, due to having various artists contributing, the art-styles of different artists can clash with one another. It's nothing too serious though.
Music: Kinda hard to rate this because I think it does exactly what it wants to do. It's background music that helps set the scene. This means that nothing really 'pops' because it's not supposed to. The music made the goofy scenes sillier and the serious scenes more somber. I think they did a solid job if that's what they were looking to do. A lot of it is pretty relaxing with a slow tempo, with a couple tracks being more energetic where it's called for.
Writing: It starts off kind of rough in act 1 but it seemed to get better with every act and by the end it was doing just fine. The humor occasionally made me blow air out of my nose but some of it was pretty....eh. Every character I interacted with (and the MC) got some development and it did feel that by the ending that everyone involved had gone through some changes, as you usually do in your first year of university.
The choices were sort of meh for the most part. It seemed like a 50/50 shot if the lead up to the choice would give me enough context clues to figure out the 'right' answer or not. And a lot of the choices didn't seem to matter at all. Maybe that was the point? Or maybe I'm just socially inept. This is kind of an issue with every VN that had ever had choices though so I don't know that it takes away that much.
I have to give credit to the writers for the ending. Without any spoilers I thought it was refreshing for a VN of this type and I liked it a lot.
There were also a few typos I caught, no more than like 5 or so. I didn't experience any glitches or anything but in one scene there was a doubling of a text line where it appeared twice one right after the other.
This VN has been heavily influenced by the well-known Katawa Shoujo and I think it strikes at similar but parallel chords. It's laid back enough that you can kind of just take it easy while you read it but when it shifts into the conflict that you know has to come it does so in a way that I think is very natural and a decent reflection of how things sometimes go in real life. All in all if you're bored and want a cute lil' VN to read I'd say give Eisai a go.
