Great usage of the theme! I love the concept of being a crossing guard and having to dodge the cars. Definitely got a couple of laughs out of my deaths. The only gripe I have is with the tank-style controls making it difficult to move left and right change the open car directions quickly during rush hour. I feel like a locked camera perspective and being able to move up down left and right with wasd would suit the game better? Regardless, I had a really good time!
Overall the game is really beautiful and generally fun! However, there were some bits that felt too precise or where I was unclear on where I had to go. For example, the part with the small red crystals on the minecart track was really unclear about where I was supposed to be jumping, and on top of that the crystals in the downward sloping cave right before requires really tight jumps to get through that brought a good amount of frustration to the game. Also pushing block puzzles don't really work as well with this perspective because I can't really see where there's empty space to push the blocks.
Some general things I would recommend: The ability to control the character in the air would make the controls feel a lot less slippery. And making sure to keep the ceilings generally high in platforming areas so that the player doesn't bonk their head on the ceiling, sending them down unpredictable and uncontrollable paths.
Also, though I would've loved to beat the game, I suffocated before I could and lost a lot of progress. Very disheartening.
Despite running to these issues, I really enjoyed playing the game! I really loved the environmental storytelling; I think it has a lot of potential.
Cutest game I've played so far! Love the art and the gamefeel a lot. The experience could probably have been enhanced with some music but otherwise the sound was nice and satisfying. I managed to get around 280m with my mouse somehow!! Thank you for making this game and I wish this gay catgirl many fish kissies <3
Overall I really like the art style, and the gameplay loop centered around exploration is really cool! It took me a long time to figure out how to buy upgrades, and it was a little frustrating having to move slowly towards the upgrade islands one at a time, so maybe a centralized shop area would be nice. Also, the hitboxes on the spikey guys are deceptively big and always caught me off guard. It seems like 2 of the levels are missing wall hitboxes underwater? And I couldn't reach the mysterious fourth upgrade because the island leading to it walled me off. And pressing G to win the game at the end took me a very long time to figure out lol. Maybe if you just automatically won when you talk to the questgiver?
Even despite running into these issues I had a lot of fun exploring the ocean and finding treasure!! Very good job with this!!
I really like the squash and stretch effect on the main character when jumping, made the game feel polished. And this is a really cool take on the theme. Though, I think too many of the jumps fall under the archetype of "press space as late as possible without falling" for me. Those types of jumps are difficult, but not interesting. Also, I kept getting caught on the ledges of platforms, completely stopping my upwards momentum and causing me to die. Overall, I think the strongest part of the game is its art! It looks really good! And the music/sfx are cool too!
