The story has lots of potential. But giving us the file on a Twine extension is just mean. I've never heard of this before. I wish you success with this game.
Are you trying it at night? I think in Hints it says you should interact with your friend at night. so 6 to 8 p.m.
To me, it started after a party where I investigated the milkshakes and then later told the friend. They got caught and it triggered the interaction.
