Grey Cells

A detective fiction game about combining clues and solving mysteries.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/greycells/grey-cells-rpg

Grey Cells focuses not only on giving players the tools to discover and piece together evidence, but also helps the GM prepare, organise and run mystery adventures. It covers various different genres (Cozy, Great Detective, Hard Boiled, Police Procedural and Thriller) with support for Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Lovecraftian mysteries in development.

They duck low and dash through the opening in single file, as quick as their legs can carry them.

I've started to read over it, and I really like the fantasy that's being established - modern wire-fu like this sounds great! I like the tone that's established, everything is laden with evocative language that helps to sustain the subject matter. I've got more thoughts but rather than bloat out this thread do you have a preferred means for direct conversation?

That's a big document! Let me read it over the next few days and get back to you.

I used to attend some roleplay forums with friends of mine about twelve years ago. I did look around for active forums last year, but I think a lot of that kind of discussion has moved to Reddit and social media. Glad to see it make a comeback here :)

Hi folks, given that there's a bunch of designers in this space of various levels of experience, this seems like an excellent place for people to seek feedback. I'm going to throw my hat in the ring first, if you have a game you're working on that you'd like someone else to look at, I'd be happy to look over it!

Having made a random table based game before, I say definitely yes :)

That would be interesting, I'd say a lot of games fit the idea of a "cover". PbtA games might count as covers of Apocalypse world (mechanically), Dungeon World might be a cover of D&D (thematically), etc and that's usually not a problem. There would need to be some lines drawn as to what counts as plagiarism, but I feel like for the most part it should be fine?

Hi folks,

I'm Bogdan aka Syfro (he/him), and I've been playing TTRPGs since I was about 10 years old. Early on mostly forms of D&D, but later branching out into PbtA systems, Blades in the Dark, White Wolf games, and more. I'm currently working on a detective fiction based TTRPG called Grey Cells that focuses on investigation and helping the GM make awesome mysteries. This is my first game project that I'll be releasing and publishing and so far I'm really happy with how it's going!

I'm looking forward to getting more involved with the TTRPG community, helping people, getting feedback and working together to make TTRPGs even more awesome!
