Maybe, though I'm fairly certain every PC comes with a default browser. Like Edge on Windows, or Safari on Apple, or the slow decay of your limited mortal form on this plane of existence that you'll never get back on Linux.
If you or someone else hasn't uninstalled it, it's probably still there. Though, downloading another browser like chrome or something is as easy as you would download a game here, if that helps?
Though if you are worried about breaking something by checking a 2nd browser, you could try toggling off browser extensions to see if that helps? I don't recall if firefox has a safe mode equivalent or not.

Based on what you described, the most likely explanation is a browser issue.
Barring that, if I had to guess... an issue with itchio in general or your PC is somehow preventing the download from popping up? To eliminate the possibility of a browser issue, consider trying to DL through a different browser?
If the problem is solved, then you know it's something with your browser.
If it persists, then you've at least eliminated one possible cause of the issue.
Oh damn, you made it through to the end? I applaud you for that, and all in one sitting! xD
My plan is to finish it soon, but that might not be until next year due to some other obligations I have with tighter deadlines. What I might do is, after the deadline next month, that I'll set aside specific days to work on this again.
Sorry for the delayed response, it took me a bit to collect myself to respond to this comment because it was nice. ;u;
I hope when I give this project the needed attention it deserves, it will be even better.
Sorry for the delayed response, I spent these past few months basically rolling around going: "I need to respond, but I don't know how~" This is just how I'm like when I get positive comments :' D
Anyways, thanks for your kind words. It might be a while before I touch this project again (since there's some stuff that have tight deadlines) but I wanted to respond to this and the other comment before I sequester myself for a while to work on my spooktober Jam entry.
I hope, when I finish this project, that it'll live up to the expectations of others. ^u^
Glad you liked it!
As for the clarification at the end...
Without giving too much away (because itch.io doesn't seem to have a spoiler tag system or a messaging system that I can see from here), the ending choices are basically deciding if Melanie should "move on" or "get another chance." Represented by "draw the curtains" and "encore."
I was limited to only 1k words, so I couldn't really add more to explanation to it, unfortunately. I don't think I can say more without posting a major spoiler on the game page. :'D
Fun (possible) fact: "I put that song in the code, about 2 minutes before the deadline." If only I would've made it in time. :'D
Also another fun fact: "I did not actually listen to the whole song before I put it in, so if it fits it was a totally random chance." But don't tell anyone, it's a secret, let them think that I meticulously planned the whole thing~ xD
