You have to click on a word, drag to another word (Not past it) and release! It's a bit janky at times but if you do it like that, it should snap into place and create all sorts of new effects :)

The game is beatable, but sometimes the duct tape can be a bit unwilling.
You have to click on a word, hold and drag the tape to another word, then let go.  It will 'snap' into place, signifying that it works.
From there, it's just a matter of structuring the correct sentences!

Yeah it looks like completely blocking out the second sentence in the second level will crash the game. Is that the one you did as well? 
Also you have to click on a word, drag to another word, then release. It's a bit wonky at times but it should work.
