I haven't tested this in Eternum, but you can hide text in most Ren'Py games on Android by swiping down on the screen. That should alleviate one of the criticisms, though I also know you can have a standalone button to hide, so that's also a possible solution.

An idea I had so that I can keep my suspension of disbelief is that was actually a rail from a railgun. 

The flash can also be explained as it being a hybrid conventional/railgun propulsion, where it's initially accelerated like a normal bullet through burning gunpowder, and then the electromagnetic propulsion gives it a boost. 

Reason for doing it that way; longer lifespan of the rails, lower energy requirements for the electromagnetic propulsion. In case you feel like explaining it even further if you go with my idea.

You can check the progress on the Patreon page, it's currently listed as 44% complete, with the last release being on the 24th of December, if development continues at the current pace it's fair to estimate the next version coming sometime by the end of April, maybe May.
