When sequel?

Oh snap.... the dialog... now that's a neat idea.

Hey! Sent you an email, let me know if you don’t get it.

Hey! Have you decided to wade back into game dev?

Thank you!  I'm always glad to see you pop up.  I hope you're well.  I'm pretty dang excited about this project.  Hopefully I get snag a few eyes and ears as I get closer to release.  I really want to inject some external ideas in as Easter eggs of a sort.

(The title is such because I missed posting on Friday, and yet, here we are.)

I hope you will, I’d love to hear your thoughts.  Tons and tons to do before I could release Sap, but as I’ve said I’ll still put a bit more effort into this version.

(1 edit)

There’s so much I want to do with the idea! A ton of the sim was trimmed to get the prototype done for school.  (I don’t want to blame school, it’s mostly that I was feeling through what I wanted the game to be…)

Now I have a lot more time. I plan on fixing up this version a little before the steam release. So I’ll let you know when it’s got some of the sim flavor back in!

Please know that I'm going to redo this roadmap as some thoughts on the matter have changed!  Nothing bad though!

is this my future?

Great news on both fronts. I'm pretty excited to see your work when its ready.  I hope you do come back to game dev as well, I'd love to be around for your next work!

*The Demo of a polished gem.  So, a half-polished mineral then...  But, nevertheless, it is exciting for me.  Hope you'll play it when it's ready.

Thanks, I'm trying to keep them pretty much 1:1.  I feel like game dev appears to mystical.  While some of it absolutely is, it feels as if most of it is just little decisions which throw a wrench into everything for several hours each haha.

You’ve caught me!  The art is getting closer to what I want / envision. As I draw more cards I’m developing “rules” to follow. However, I do plan on animating the cards after 1.0. It’ll just be a few frames of hand squiggling.

Some other stuff will likely change (visually) over time.  The difference between the board, menus, and cards is really jarring at the moment. But yeah, visuals are an element I want to work on more.

Absolutely, what I'm calling 1.0 will essentially be a very early-access state (or yes, it maybe more appropriate to call it a vertical slice.)  From there I plan on taking time to rewrite a few large portions of the underlying systems to support both more flexibility and more advanced processing of individual cards.

If I haven't at any point made it clear - this is a final project for school, so I have some specific milestones I have to hit.  It is however, my project entirely as I'm running a solo "team" so I can continue to develop it however I please.  As for the demo, that's very much going to happen next month.  You will be among the first to have access to it.  I'd very much like to hear your thoughts!

Hope you had a solid holiday(s), there are a few new updates.  I'm always excited to hear what you think about the progress!

Hey, glad to hear it.  That I am, although I'm already wishing I had time to restart the whole thing.  I won't be doing that until I've at least gotten 1.0 into peoples hands though.  Hopefully you'll keep checking it out!

Hey! Thanks, I hope you'll continue to check it out.  I have two updates after this one if you're interested.  Hopefully, next weeks update will be pretty juicy!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you - thank you.  I'm really going to crack down on making the sounds even better.  Next weeks update will show off the new music and likely some more sound effects.  I hope you'll check it out if your holiday plans aren't too crazy!

But what if I told you SnarkBeetle was removed in the latest build?  Does that make the sticker even more rare?

Thanks, it’s something I think I’ll continue to do as I move forward.  Hopefully some piece will be useful to someone out there, or more likely someone can call me out for bad practice!

It certainly feels like there something to it, even if it is as you suggested, in an unfinished state.  I found myself clicking and clicking and restarting repeatedly, haha.  I understand resource gathering when I see it, at least.

I'll check out some of your other stuff too, but I was just drawn to this one because of the tag line!

Salad need make new game plz.

Thanks!  I'm really pretty happy with the art.  I think as I refine it a little it's the sort of thing I can really lean into.

I'm gonna give it some time this afternoon.  I'll report back, but you've gotta know -> experimental games are usually my jam.

No way, moar moss.

okay, once I’ve caught up missing several days of sleep - you’ve gotta know this is on the list.  Right up my alley.

I cannot wait to sleep.

Got hung up on some other stuff, but I'll have a whole new post tomorrow!  Check then, I'll finally have a little to show off.

Honestly, I hope to continue the trend of poggers posts.

Thank you mr. salad.

I'm big time inspired by various life sims include the classic game of life.  While it might be light for the demo release, there is still going to be an emphasis on sim in the background.

Awesome, hope to hear what you think along the way!  There will be at least one a week, but maybe more depending on how much free time I have.

It's the final project for my bachelors, so I'm really very excited to work on it.  They've afforded me an incredible amount of agency to work on what I want.  Unlike usual where I got radio-silent for long stretches of time, I have to keep this page updated with my work consistently!

Yeah, you've got the idea right.  It's mostly about exploring the cards you're dealt and learning how they work and react to others.  It forms a little ecosystem on your board, and you have to prevent it from collapsing.

Thanks for already responding!  I'm still waiting on this TTRPG you're working on!  Any news?

Yeah, cool as ever.

This looks really cool.  Has keyboard support been implemented yet?

Hey, this is a very cool.  First time out the gate I got like 10 right facing expansions interspersed with two ups and mushroom haha.  Very intuitive and slick.  Solid work!
