hi!! this was an unfinished prototype i made for a game design class in college lol—

to play the highest fidelity prototype please go here: https://itzbosco.itch.io/risk-mance

but note that the game was never fully finished. if you end up trying it out and liking whats there so far, maybe i’ll try to finish it :)

very cute prototype! I like how the screen shakes when you take damage :)

This is so fun and unique! I think you did a really good job combining the literal idea of a portrait with something that was personal to you and your interests. Having the images to trace fade over time was really creative and thought-provoking as well. Nice job!!

Incredible art style as always! I think it would've been nice if there was some sort of visual indicator to differentiate the player from the zombies-- I had a hard time seeing it if there was one.

Mechanics are simple but very effective. good job!

I wasn't able to download it for some reason :(

but based on your demo I thought it was cool that you incorporated the moving "cars" element so seamlessly into pong. I agree with the professor, however, that maybe adding one more interactive element would be good to up the intensity while waiting for the ball to get through the inner barrage of "cars"

literally how do you keep making such polished work??? its insane! great job! Especially since you mentioned some loss you experienced, which sucks :(

Anyway: I love the extra little details you put in like having some of the bunnies hide behind objects. Controls feel really smooth overall.

I wasn't sure how to interact with objects and stuff (maybe some instructions on the title screen wouldve been good) but the sprites and tilesets/backgrounds for all the rooms are ADORABLE and really well made

Thanks for playing it with me lol!! This is very fun and VERY chaotic. It definitely immerses me in the gameplay right away even though there arent fancy sprites or anything. Maybe if the snake moved a little bit slower it would be a bit easier, otherwise good job!

cute and funny concept! the collisions are a little off and it would be nice if the triangles were semi-transparent, but overall it was great!

really cute concept and impressive that you basically made two games! As someone who likes to cook irl, i can confirm that multitasking is essential. also your sprites are adorable

amazing aesthetic as always! I also think the concept behind this game is really cool and immersive, I feel like I'm an important hero in an action movie, and the luck meter/having to protect the hacker adds a nice little emotional attachment (in my opinion).

this is great and kind of reminds me of how you can only move on the beat in Crypt of the Necrodancer

I really appreciate the little details like that hanging guy's legs swinging along to the beat too and the parallax scrolling of the background :)

nice job!! I initially tried to place every single obstacle for my game but decided about 1/3rd of the way through... nope. its definitely very time-consuming and difficult to get it to line up on the beat.

if you do decide to try another rhythm game, the way i've found works best is to track the framecount and do some math to figure out what modulo(%) will evenly split up the beats like

if frame_count % 60 == true {

instance create obstacle etc etc

anyways it was super fun and i really like geometry dash too. also liked the little pixel explosion visual effect everytime you jump :)

This is really cool! Its interesting to see the similarities and differences between our own games given the similar prompts. great animation

I really like how the shapes slowly fill up with color to show your progress. Just a really great visual queue. i love bright colors on a black background as well (like i did in my own game lmfao)

I agree with Matthew-- it totally reminds me of those physical tilting maze toys. its so cool that you used Unity (i also wanna learn) and the concept just makes it absolutely hilarious and charming!!

it's not based on anything too specifically but i definitely took the beat-highway inspiration from games like guitar hero/rock band. The aesthetic is also kinda tetris/geometry dash-themed!

I really like your bird sprites. They're just really charming lol. The erratic movement of the character definitely made it difficult (and I think it could probably be turned down a notch) but I think the use of the shape constraint as a skateboarding half-pipe/ramp was a great idea

I agree that having more variety of where to click would've been nice. maybe just a few different options. But I really liked how unique your concept was compared to everyone else's!

Super cute game! Reminds me a bit of Nintendogs and other games where you care for pets. That makes it hit super hard when you see what happens to the poor poobaloo. Great for the time frame but it would've been great if we could've gone from finding it to caring for it for a few days/levels to the eventual last day.  More time with the poobaloo would've made it hit that much harder.

I like how the rhinos drop their horns immediately where you shot them, but sometimes it's hard to get started if rhinos spawn really close to you (cause there's not enough time/space to move away from them). On that note, it does seem kinda weird that the rhinos are moving toward you since you're trying to shoot them. Overall fun game, though!
