If I had one word to describe this game, it would be... "compassionate".
Holy shit. This. This is the kind of emotional resonance I look for in games. Just, like, the use of mechanics as framing device or narrative to evoke something. I almost got a contact high from this. Much like the "fish factory" sequence from What Remains Of Edith Finch, I just sorta got lost in the monotony of the pong game and just got lost in your story. Something so honest and raw and... vulnerable about it. I started shaking and crying partway through, it brought back a lot of painful memories of some of my own heartbreaks. And I dunno. I think I needed this. I needed to play your game to sort of look at my own life for a bit. Good on you, man. I loved this game. Thank you so much for making it. Yeah. That's it, really. :)
The inferno spell being purchasable from the get-go was intentional, but noted on the game-breaking side effect. Narcissa in that fight was supposed to have plot armor, even against magic, but I missed the "overheat" status. Will patch out soon. Thank you so much!
Also, the "W" button is the same as the "skip button" (aka RB on a controller) used to skip dialogue, and doubles as a skip turn for the battles. Will make it clearer in the keyboard controls tutorial.
No, there's no hotkey for stealth. Special key "Q" is used for special items later on in the game. Line of sight is about 6 tiles in front of an enemy (unless in dark areas). Once you're spotted, an enemy will run towards you and if they touch you, an encounter will happen. If you can't see the enemy charge at you, then it's most likely lag on your part.
