I still play this every year. :)

I'm probably not the first to post that Junji Ito manga panel with the woman saying the house is sexy, so I won't. But I wish I were.

Bug: The screen seems glitched, which seems to have nothing to do with the settings I've checked off and on.

Spoilers for the very start of the game -

I haven't progressed past this point, but I wanted to wait until it's been fixed. I'd love to be immersed by the game once it is.

The endings were great but the true ending was amazing, this is my fave game made in Ren'Py :) this couple will be on my brain for a while longer.

Me and my roommate played this together (neither of us being reactionary/fash!) and we liked this. Genuinely the tone here is an inspiration as a writer and I'm quite happy that I managed to stay up until an ending actually happened, I could've sworn it would be a time loop sorta game where we'd be trapped going on new shows forever and you just didn't tell us that it looped within the narrative. At times we couldn't discern the tone between if you were making fun of something sincerely or making fun of something ironically, but that adds to the experience. And my roommate likes hopepunk now thanks.

Ending Conditions: Lovesick, Lit By The 31st Light, Furry, Ellie's Nemesis, Ringbearer, 999 Love Bucks, Standards, Obviously some sort of man hater or something.

The game was fun and the graphics are cute. Kirby even starts to sleep when idle, a great detail. Played this with a friend, he doesn't have an itch.io account so here are his words: "It had a similar feel of early Kirby games. Not perfect but still very cool."

I must've played this fifty times from 2017 to 2020. I know because the writing is vaguely familiar each time I play, but my memory is so spotty that I sometimes have the joy of "discovering" each ending again.. and again.. I only just realised that this was in my Loved Games collection after finishing this for the 1st time in 2020, and then shortly realised that a comment is way overdue.

Each ending is fun. The one about feeding off emotion has a special place in my heart, but what makes it better is the one talking about expectations because it paints the former ending in a whole different light. This year, I thought that no other ending could top the former, yet ironically the expectations ending subverted my expectations--again! That's why it is my favorite.

Something unrelated to the endings that I also like is the humor! Simple and sweet. And I really adore the leggy blond, every version of him. I can't help imagining his backstory if his true self is in the expectations ending ... but maybe not knowing is what keeps me fascinated about him? Just like Morgan. :P

It's also a definite inspiration about Twine's usefulness as a game making tool. With it you've made an interesting experience and as someone who's tried Twine before I feel like tackling a project of my own again. Thanks for sharing this, your writing is a joy!

this is an incredibly old comment but the -1 cracks me up as if someone read your comment and went, "hm you say your heart stopped but you were able to type, disgusting liar."

Sadly that is likely not happening, since this was inspired by the 2019 protests in Hong Kong and decades of students protests before that.

This concept will always be relevant as long as there is a corrupt government.

:(

ahh this made me cry happy tears, thank you for your effort. your point on resilience is a good one and I want to be more resilient now

I should've written this comment a while ago.

I played this half a year ago, and yet I've thought back to it way more than once.  I even remember playing it several times on the same day and being pleasantly surprised that the words, though mostly same, still change subtly. Not as in what the choices make happen but the word choices. I love that touch.

Though I can't relate to Ivory's personality and though I was mad at him for Min's sake, the ending still made me tear up. Ivory's story engulfs me in a bittersweet feeling... even if I can't figure him out at  all. (and after replaying today, still cannot)

(in fact after replaying I find myself realizing again how much I am Min, so it's interesting how I feel much more for Ivory)

asadgl'; I'm sorry I can't word stuff but this really touched me!! The feeling of weary resignation but hope for the future is so well captured and I legit feel it again everytime I think back to this!

sorry this is getting long but yeah. This is  great, Ivory's great, you're great! :D

I loved the Cipherhunt, and I love this retelling of it! I agree that this format is more interesting than an essay.

You're a good person

I'm not sure what I did, or if it was the game, but the dialogue looped right at the end for me. At the part where Doglas says "I think I know who the mastermind of this case is", the next line is Max repeating the usual "Welcome back, Detective!" and so on and so on. I've clicked for a while now and I'm sure it's not going to proceed.

But before that part I really enjoyed this game. I love the worldbuilding of this dog world that's been created, and also Max is adorable. 10/10 borks. Plus I've had this hunch of who was the killer from the start and everything I've found out so far seems to point in that direction :D
