Really, really great game! And a super evocative use of Twine. I particularly like the game's sardonic tone, the way it draws attention to rainbow capitalism and seems to leave space for the player to draw conclusions about the interaction between identity and state warfare/imperialism and how fundamentally incompatible these things are. I especially loved the reroute to the poem at the end. I feel this whole game is very... relevant right now, let's say, given the current ethnic cleansing of Palestine at the hands of Israel and the complicity of Western nations in this. Obviously a heavy topic but I didn't want to beat around the bush regarding connections drawn in my head, maybe it's just so much on my mind. Thank you for sharing this.
I really love this one, I think it's really fascinating and impactful to imagine TTRPGs from a place of nonfiction or memoir! really great for empathy, like living inside someone's life and intimate experiences for a bit. I love all of the different mechanics you decided to include and the depth of the writing, it is really lovely. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself with us! I'm transmasc, but many of these experiences still really resonated with me, including many that weren't even directly related to gender transition. Again, thanks for sharing!
I am so glad you liked the prompts! I think that the physical card designs that differ can be great inspiration in solo games, but there are always free online decks that work great if you just want to try out a game that uses tarot cards! It's such a fun mechanic I would definitely recommend it.
Thank you for your compliments about the shop mechanic!! If you make any games with a similar mechanic please let me know, I'd love to play them! I am obsessed with solo journaling games. I think the idea of having a "shop" players can use to buy different benefits might be a fun way to mimic GM shop mechanics in full group DND. Thanks so much for your comment and feedback!
Also: I have been told this game would actually be really easy to modify to fit all sorts of customer-facing positions, so if you ever want to actually swap in your real job to play in the astral realm, all that really needs to change is the coffee context and maybe a couple shop items. I didn't realize how generally applicable it was!
thank you so much for your comment !! I am very glad you enjoyed the game and your coworker crush being The Devil sounds very interesting... I was a barista for several years so there is a lot in this game that is drawn from personal experience, both lighthearted and more serious. thanks for leaving feedback about your experience!
I have been managing it in google sheets with tabs for the different stats and notes (for myself) about each of the stats so that I know when things were lost or changed even if my vampire does not. It isn't shown here, but I also have a chronological table with all original experiences placed in order (not within memories) so that I can go back to trace the thread of time and see experiences that have not been adjusted or altered by later prompts. just a good way to organize the gameplay work as well as keep track of what you originally created! As you can see, I have not finished yet and have clung to one of my vampire's original resources for as long as possible, we'll see when my luck runs out with that.
