The story is about underwater city, like a real world but with mermaids, fish-mans, and deep-sea-inhabitants.
What's happen - oil field breakthrough.
There will be "meaningful" short stories about various characters in this world, cataclysm will be a "hidden evil", that endings every main-character story. But, despite of all that, happy end will be after last story.
Also despite that darkly story, the novel will be SFW with some comic narration and with NOT realistic or semi-realistic artstyle.
I am learning to be teacher of arts now, and I think anyone can be taught to draw, especially in 30 days.
Also if you already can draw, you should always try other styles and improve your "understanding" in art generally.
About styles - I think it will be a mix of styles, because every MC will see the world differently (but not realistic or semi-realistic, only very stylized which can everyone draw, between cartoon and anime).
