Hello gang!
My name is Jeanne, I’m a 23 year old trans woman, and I’m also a newly graduated professional concept artist. Problem: I don’t have any experience under my belt so I can’t really get jobs in the industry. Solution: join an indie group through itch, whether it’s for a game jam or otherwise, and work on projects that will hopefully ship and give me a proof of effectiveness that I can give to companies.
I’ll get the hard part out of the way; monetization wise, if the game makes ANY money, I expect a fair cut. At least an equal dividend of the money that is made, I.e. if it’s a 6 man team, I expect at least 1/6th, so on and so forth. If I’m juggling 20 different jobs on a team then I might ask for more, but that shouldn’t be an issue.
Anyways! I am able to make key art (illustrations), character concept art, environment concept art, prop concept art, orthographic views of characters, I can help develop character designs and set designs, and I can also do pixel art; attached is a piece I made after playing signalis.
My favorite types of games are Story Heavy games, like Signalis, Mouthwashing, etc., so that is mainly what I’m looking to work on. Stuff that has a really juicy and meaningful story I can bite into.
As far as work environment goes, I NEED a proper, dedicated director on the team, whose job is organizing monetization and project management. I prefer if they aren’t the programmer, and I prefer they don’t hold any other role in the team, mainly because I don’t want to be grappling with the whole “I need to wait so that I can figure out what I need from you” that happens anytime a programmer is also a director. If the game has a crack team, though, and the programmers are on top of their game and able to make stuff for it quickly and actually produce results from my work, then by all means I’m willing to bend on this.
