Thanks for message!
It's nice to know that someone is waiting for release :)
Hi!
Thanks for playing :)
Appreciate the feedback!
About the items - this is done on purpose. I did want to overwhelm players with a lot of stuff at the beginning. For the same reason it is also linear, which gives time to learn the game mechanics before jumping into the water. After second mirror jump "linear" part will go away, also I have plans for multi item puzzles, so there will be stuff to collect ;)
About the controls - you got me here. I usually play on gamepad, so that is way I had trouble finding the right controls layout.
But luckily - this is quite easy to fix. Remapping for keyboard is just the matter of minutes. So I can go with Q - inventory, E - examine, SPACE - run (I will leave ENTER as second examine/accept option).
You mentioned no save points, that is something I am currently working on (mentioned in topic started by Stella Abbasi), so before jumping through the mirror, there usually will be save point (as there is a thin line between challenge & frustration).
Glad you liked the puzzles :) I'm long time escape room fan. I've got lot of ideas for more of them, hopefully you would be able to see it :)
Thanks again for feedback, comments like this give me power to go on with the project :)
You are not the only one who missed that. I will introduce changes that will point it out more, because it brings unnecessary difficulty.
But I admire your perseverance - even though you did not notice the run option, you did not quit and tried again.
Sorry for the unnecessary frustration :(
I was rooting for you when I saw the room with The Eye, because it drains your mental state when it looks at you, which can result in death.
But you've managed to pass it through :)
Hi
First of all - Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoy it :)
About the instant death, I agree that healthbar seems little pointless in the demo. The idea was to show there is so no joke there, the other "things" I have planned for the game will not kill you instantly. But yes, this might feel frustrating, that you meet the most dangerous one at the beginning.
But I have already have taken this into the account, so before you jump through the mirror, there will be always a possibility to save game (already deep in development :) ).
Small sneak pick for you in thanks for your feedback:
So there is already added save point to Room 202 (where you find document in the drawer).
One thing I saw from your gameplay, that you did not use "run" in the game (right alt, if you are playing on keyboard, X on xbox controller) - which might made it more difficult for you than it should be.
You can see all controls in options at the start screen or when you press P during the game (which I tried to advertise at the beginning 0:16, sorry if this was not clear enough).
The game has some way to go, but there are big plans. I already have multi page document with locations, puzzles, creatures...
I will try to post updates from time to time, to show that project is not dying ;) (Given that, there will be people who would want to play it ;D )
Thanks again for feedback!
Long time ago in a development hell far away
Enlightened was originally made for pixel horror jam something like 5 years ago. After quite fair responses, there was a decision to continue the project. Unfortunately, due to personal issues I was not able to push project further. And so it went deep down into the abyss...
After 4 years I've picked the project again, armed with more skills and more heart I've recreated everything from scratch with improved quality.
And now...
Enlightened is classic horror/puzzle/exploration game. You woke up inside the hotel not knowing how you got here.
The available demo lets try out what enlightened is about. Contains first 15-20m minutes of gameplay, where you can explore multiple room and look for anyone beside you in this place. You will find few obstacles on your way.

Hey
I was participating in that same jam and after it had ended I was checking other creators' games. Unfortunately, because of RPG Maker requirement I did not check out your game at that time.
Three years later out of curiosity, I've opened this page and I saw RTP included version ;D
I must say that is my favourite game of that jam :) The game is simple, but at the same time it has interesting story and really cool moments (I will not spoil them here ;) ).
I was sad that it has ended so quickly, but for the limited amount of time you had to create such game it is a really solid title. Thx for making this game.
