Yeah, I'm a bit ashamed to admit that it took me 10+ new characters before I realized it was there. ^.^;
That's odd. While I don't know how you could get rid of it since I always play in Windowed Fullscreen, you could try playing in Windowed Fullscreen instead; see if you like that better, maybe. Can always switch it back if not.
Near that Blesser you found by the rocks, there should have been a Roundel dagger stuck in a tree.
