Hey everyone,

I'm professional indie game developer with over 10 years of experience. These days I mostly make educational games for kids, and you can check them out on my profile.
Also I have regularly judged for all kinds of game competitions, both online and in person, such as the Global Game Jam, Nordic Game, and the Indie Prize. As such, I will also keep an eye out for judging at this Jam. May the best game win, but most of all, have a good time. Cheers!

There is no connection to rare diseases. I submitted this game because I made almost all assets using AI, which is the other main thing of the jam.

Dear jammers,

I'm sorry to say this, but I'll have to cancel this jam and bundle.

We only have 9 submissions this time (down from 31 in February). That's not enough to make fair Top 5 selection.

I will reconsider the jam, and come back later with a bigger and better team.

Thank you for your submissions.

Yoeri

Meanwhile, please submit for the next Jam:

https://itch.io/jam/best-of-march-24

I'm applying the lessons learned from the February jam. Free demo or trailer is now a requirement.

Hey Dan, let me answer some of your questions.

There were five criteria: Gameplay, Graphics, Audio, Innovation and Polish. I took the average of all of these, then made manual cuts in the Top 10.

Your game ended up in 12th place overall. That doesn't mean it's bad, just that it had a lower average rating than others. Don't take it personally, and please submit it for the March jam!

Don't look at individual rankings. I don't care if a game ended up #1 in Innovation. I looked for average ratings for all games.

Some games are not good. And that's when you give them a bad rating. If someone rates it a 5/5, that's up to them.

Ratings were made by submitters, so anyone could rate anything. Unfortunately many games ended up with just 2 or 3 ratings total, skewing the results. I rated every single game to the best of my knowledge. Some games have no free version, so it's a guess. I'm not buying a $5+ game just to rate it. A requirement for the next Jam is a playable demo or a trailer.

This is Itch, there was only 30 submissions, and plenty of the submissions were not good games. More submissions will lead to more quality games at the top.

I hope that for the next jams, more submissions will come in, and more people truthfully rate the games. That way we make sure that we really have a great Bundle. The only way to get there is for me to keep hosting these every month, and people submit every month. The overall quality of all submissions will have to go up.

Final thoughts. Don't take it personally. Ever. That's a really big problem in the games industry. A bad Steam review can ruin your day. You may reconsider all your choices and contemplate leaving the industry forever. That's fair, we all do that.

But you got to move on, and try again.

Thanks Christian!

Thank you all for your submissions. The results of the poll are in, and resulted in a shortlist of games below.

Each of these scored similarly, around 4.0 average.

I think it's a good list. I will go over all of them to see if there's any duplicates or other problems.

Edit: After making some cuts, here's the Top 7, split into 5 categories.

  • Puzzle: Crash Course, Get The Gems
  • Platformer: Saga of Song, Ultraviolet
  • Action: Firebird
  • Horror: Veranoia Horror
  • RPG: Port Traventor

If you want people to play your DEMO, you should let them play for free.

That's the point of a demo. Then, you can get feedback, improve your game, and release a better version.

Hey there!
Updating the game during the rating period is not allowed. This is to prevent placeholder submissions.

I'm not sure how Itch implements updating a game during the rating period, but I think when people rate your game, they will just see the version you submitted.

Yes, the profits of the bundle are equally shared.

The price of the bundle depends on the contents of the bundle. As an estimate, probably 50% of the total value of games in the bundle.

I've seen some bundles run for just a single week, only for the submitters to not accept it in time. This bundle will only have 5 creators, so that shouldn't be much of a problem. I think the bundle shall run for about 2-4 weeks, to give space to accept it.

This bundle is to show the "Best of February"

I suggest we submit our most recent work, so the bundle will have relatively "fresh" submissions.

If you started your game before the jam, that's not a problem at all. I just hope you didn't release it a long time ago. Welcome to the jam!

Hey people, I've updated the deadline for submissions from 1st of March to 23rd of February.
This way, the voting happens at the end of February, and the results are ready by 1st of March. Let me know if you like or dislike the change!

in no particular order! I play no favorites. Maybe I'll update the image in the next few days.

Now that we have some submissions, it's time for a promo image! It's made up of current submissions, but in no particular order.

Go for it, Ansel! Welcome to the jam.

Hey all, please submit your games for the Best of February Bundle! You can join the jam here:

https://itch.io/jam/best-of-february-24

The goal of this jam is to create the Best of February Bundle, featuring only the top 5 games.

Thank you for playing! There is something wrong with the cropping though. I'm not sure if it's a glitch in Unity or Itch, but a good 20% of the game is cut off at both the bottom and right.

Hey all,

I could use some feedback, so I'm giving away three of my games for FREE today.

The bundle includes the following games:

  1. FractureTime for potions! Help out a wizard lady in her potion shop. Go into the forest to forage for mushrooms and flowers, then cut them into perfect fraction pieces in order to sell potions to a colorful cast of customers!
  2. Aquatic AdventureHeavy rainfall has flooded the village. Talk with the villagers and play minigames to save the town! You will learn a lot about different forms of water and where to find them.
  3. Trash to TreasurePlay through minigames to learn about natural resources, pollution and ways to save the environment. The villagers will be happy when you help them clean the town.

Bundlehttps://itch.io/s/116318/fracture-anthology

All games are playable in a browser, or you can download a Windows build.

Enjoy, and review if you can!

Uploaded a Windows build for Fracture!
I didn't realize your comment was for a different game (Christkind).

But it applied to Fracture as well!

I'll do my best! The game is in Unity-WebGL and a pure Windows build will come with all kinds of compatibility issues. But I'll try!

I'll work on a Windows version. What's the deadline? And do you like the game?

Well done, Florentin.
You understand the essence of the game. If this was a school project, I hope you passed with a good grade.

The game consists of a series of point and click puzzles. Click to find hidden objects, connect words and complete a jigsaw puzzle.

Hope you like it!

Hey Itch,

here's my new game Trash to Treasure. Link: https://yoeristaal.itch.io/trash-to-treasure

It's a point-and-click educational game. You collect trash, sort it, and learn how to make the world a better place!

The game features a colorful cast of characters.

I noticed a lot of games here are Horror, so I'm wondering if there's any desire for educational content as well?

Enjoy and have a good day!

I posted two (partial) 3D games.
But as your screen is flat and mouse input is in 2D, it makes sense that everything is presented to the camera in a way very close to 2D.

Screenshot for reference.
