Prodrome is a surreal first-person horror/sci-fi game in which you play as a resident of a small town that is caught in a mysterious space/time loop.
It is ZedZed-Y-Zed's second project (though it's our first release). As our first game employed a minimalist stylistic approach and straightforward story exposition, we wanted to challenge ourselves a little bit and take the opposite approach with Prodrome; this game was mainly our testing ground for trying to capture that good ol' late 90's visual style, as well as taking a stab at environmental storytelling. Hi everyone! We are a small new team of developers (doubling as writers, animators, sound designers, voice actors, etc...you know how it is) trying our hand at this game dev thing.
Escape From D-1471 tells the story of inmate LV-7797 as he attempts to escape a floating prison complex in the upper atmosphere of a gas giant. It's our first joint. We actually completed it back in 2020, but have been bashfully sitting on it for fear of being booed and scorned, lol.
It's highly asymmetrical, downright punishing at times, and sprinkled with absurdity. To us it's a comedy, first and foremost, though others might not see the humor in it:) That's okay; we're not very funny people.
