Heyyo!!
If you've been keeping up with my socmed, then you'll know that I've taken in a group of foster kittens in the past few weeks! A Momma cat and her four (4) babies, as well as a little black kitten that I found on the highway the day I went to pick up the fosters.
Just look at these cuties:
Things have been going well for them, up until last night (9/13/2024). I took the babies into the vet Friday morning to have them tested for feline leukemia (they all came back negative!), but somehow between me dropping the kittens off at home after the vet appointment and me returning home from a day of work in the office, something happened.
I noticed that the little tabby kitten was limping, that she wasn't putting any weight on her back leg. All in all, not the biggest health red flag. But I was worried none-the-less (I mean, she's only 1.5 pounds! She's so small and I was so worried) so I took her to my nearest emergency vet.
We got there at 9:30 pm and did not leave until 4 am this morning. In that time, she had a couple x-rays done. And what they found is that she has a broken leg.
Specifically, she has an incomplete spiral fracture on her right hind leg. She will be fine! She was put into a cast and a cone and we just have to make sure that the bandages stay dry while she heals, but that process will take 9-12 weeks where she will have to have her cast changed every week to keep up with her growing body.
All that is to say: her vet bills are currently pretty high and they are only going to get higher.
Not counting the regular vet visit yesterday morning, this little tabby girl has run up a bill of $826.53. I anticipate the bill going well over $1k once all is said and done with the cast changes.
She is worth it, though. And I am lucky enough that I had a means to pay for the bill last night, but it took it's toll on my finances and will continue to do so as I pay off the card it was put onto.
To help with that, I've decided to put my books on sale here! ΔΆΙΟΣ, my debut novel, as well as it's companion novella are half off! I am also bundling my two grief short stories (Wait For Me and Death Comes For Us All) with the sale. I would include Incorrect Eyes, my psychological religious horror novella, in this sale as well, but it's actually already free to read if you have Kindle Unlimited! Any and all sales of my books through this time will go towards the babies! And if we pass the goal here, I will use the rest of the funds to help out a good friend of mine who's also having kitty vet issues <3
To anyone who's made it this far: Thank you!! I appreciate you even being here and reading this, and I hope that your day is full of all the sleep that I have currently misplaced.
P.S. woe, cats be upon ye:
