Spooky, scary, skeletons in the closet. The Ministry of all that is earthly and all that ever will be, communicates every year its progress on the taxation of the Holy Loebian Empire and its 698 landed members. When it was founded by Saint Alice of Loebia, its mission was to organize the disparate monetary reserves of the newly unified states into the Curiae.
Following the revolt of the nobles, part of the ministry was exploited to ferry the numerous victims of the purge to the Holy See. The trails of wagons spanned the whole continent, tentacles stretching unending up to the base of the heavy skies. Wild beasts would often crowd the roads, attracted by the funeral processions.
Those horrifying events had a lasting impact on the arts, with the emergence of the theme of the "Carnival of the Dead". Typically, the engravings around doorway at the Holy See depict a procession of the victims entering the gate of the Kingdom while producing a cacophony of hellish proportion. Although, a few century later, it became customary to add an effigy of the Saint at the top of the frontispice in order to preclude to the grace and mercy of her Holiness in her protection of the victims.
The treasonous nobles, much reviled, are never named and mostly appear as hollowed figures at the intersection of the doorway with the ground. Traditionally, only seven minitature human-shaped holes are present. Some say that on one specific doorway leading to the necropolis lying under the massive Holy See, eight hollowed traitors have been carved out, but this is only a rumour.
