This sale will be celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. day and yes, it does coincide with Inauguration Day this year.
This is going to be a BIG one. Not only the 65% discount on individual items but 97% on everything combined and some new updates leading into the sale (a few new textures in the 2018 classic collection just recently appeared quietly and as far as I can see none of the people who have that asset pack have yet noticed or downloaded the update) with many more big updates on the way.
The standard note: Not every item bundled here as 'sale item' in the bundle is released yet. Some are a few weeks, months, even a year from being ready to go realistically. They are all moving faster now that the Etsy phase out has happened and if you've been paying attention by the time this sale starts you will be able to see that as the week going into this event is seeing some meaningful updates.
FREE AT LAST! - I am making this bundle an interesting one. Over the span of time the sale is active I will post 25 random codes (asset pack download codes) one by one onto this sale page. That is, again, the 18th-21st with the peak of activity being the 20th. If you are one of the thousands on the fence or who just don't want to commit to buying things, this is a chance to claim some random asset packs at no cost whatsoever. But I am hoping you will go beyond that and grab the bundle as it is maybe the cheapest it's been in a long, long time. Plus there is a goal seen at the bottom for this sale.
$275. I've upgraded some hardware and software to the point where I am close to being in position to do some really *massive* large scale physics simulation that looks photoreal or almost completely so. In other words, new VFX packs by mid 2025 in addition to long awaited other stuff being released before, during, and after the summer of 2025. I considered the initial plan as 'trying to raise $275' but I have scraped together some work elsewhere and found ways to cover roughly half that target amount, and I can cut into it elsewhere to reduce the margin needed a little further. So here is my plan:
Up to $275 in sales in this I pledge to keep 40% of the amount raised and put that towards moving the upcoming VFX stuff forward. 10% goes to the NAACP in their support of civil rights in celebration of MLK Jr. Day, 10% to help people impacted by the conflict in Gaza, with the same charity group that was the focus of the Palestine Aid Bundle, 10% to the Against Malaria Foundation, 10% to Doctors without Borders, 10% American Red Cross. The last 10% goes to the itch.IO site and staff. Thanking them for providing this awesome platform.
If you opt to donate at least the price of the bundle to any of these, you can also get the bundle keys for free, and thus the entire bundle. I don't need to get a cent - you will need to provide a screenshot or email receipt or PayPal transaction detail or something indicating the donation was real and actually was made, which can be done using a selective fragment of the screen and not a full screenshot with some image cropping tool or a program like Greenshot. As a general rule, obviously, don't send me or anyone else critical private info, but just something minimal indicating the transaction/donation existed. You can send that [here].
The upside of supporting the bundle specifically is the fact that it pushes the total toward the $275 mark visibly, and makes the VFX pack launches more in reach. I think it's still *possible* to get the packs made by say September or so, but if you want that posted more like late Spring 2025 or June, this support does help move things forward faster. The more sales are made here just in general, the more I can keep the projects moving forward faster. (indie games, stock media asset packs, etc ) but there are of course also other ways you can show support like commenting, rating/reviewing, etc. All feedback posted is useful, it doesn't need to be a review and can just be a comment or question somewhere or even voicing a problem you have with the pack. That's happened several times and I do respond trying to fix the issues people identify in comments and bring up. It has resulted in significant improvements in some places.
And if the sale exceeds $275? Well, at that point the donation percentage goes up to 90% which is to say: itch 10% and the other five listed groups get 18% each. If you are looking at this sale event and by some miracle it has surpassed $275 then that means any further sums raised all get donated across the groups listed. I have made a real effort to make as many aware of this sale as I can but that only goes so far. If you want to let other people know, please do - the fact that the free codes will be posted over the sale duration will be appealing to a lot of people, especially within the game development community so if you have a few friends in that area please direct them here!
