The Magical Diary games take place in Iris Academy, a wizarding school set in a remote area of Vermont in the United States. The school is divided up into six Halls by gender and personality types: Horse and Wolf Halls for the more athletic, competitive kids, Butterfly and Falcon Halls for those more interested in social connections, and Snake and Toad Halls for the the quieter, odder children with their own interests (yes, this is where the goths tend to end up). New students enter the school at age 16.
"Horse Hall" was the game released first (2011) and features a female protagonist. "Wolf Hall" is the more recent release (2020) and features a male protagonist. Both games allow you to date both male and female characters.
Both games can be played standalone, they are NOT direct sequels. However, if you intend to play both, it's better to start with Horse Hall because Wolf Hall will spoil a few reveals.
