Hello everyone! I am actively and excitedly developing SpriteDrop further, and want to hear what features you want to see!

Please leave any suggestions below, even if it is something that is already being planned. Knowing the demand will help me prioritize development.

Planned Features

  • Top down Actors with 4-directional movement

Thank you <3

Hey Grog. This is a bit silly but i love to be able to squash and stretch to make animations more juicy and of course more custom animations support!! Thanks a lot

Developer(+1)

I just put in another custom animation slot today! May see about adding more once I build out the UI more!

I get you re: squash and stretch, I'll look into it!

This so cool, I love it!, how about  adding  projectiles with impact against objects, dash, jump spin/rotation, crouching,

This can be resolve by adding more custom slots?

Developer

Thank you so much, and I appreciate the suggestions!

 have plans to expand the custom animations to have selectable actions, such as double jump, dash, shoot, etc. I'm not certain they will be in the -next- update as I am focusing on getting tile sets and top down actors in, but most likely the update to follow~

this has been super helpful so far and I wanna ask that maybe we can get a way to toggle animations mid motion maybe to test how sprites flow into each other, for instance, you could press a button and it would change the running anim mid run, this would be useful for momentum based sequences. Also something for turning sprites would be nice

Developer

Super glad you've found it useful! This is an interesting idea, but I may end up solving this in a different way. I am hoping to be able to flesh out custom actions to be further defined.for example you could set a custom action to be "walk", which would be used if moving under x speed. Or set it to turning, double jump, dash, etc.

This won't be in this update, but I'll start looking into this for potentially the next update after that.

Awesome program, kudos.   👍️  Any chance for a MacOS version?

Developer

Thanks so much! No promises, but it's something I'd like to attempt! No eta at this point.

Hello, Only had a quick play with the demo version, but there's a couple of things that I would need adding.

1) When importing files, would be nice to have an advance option to select sprite sizes as well as frames.

2) Been able to import a sprite sheet along with the JSON file info would be even better and been able to assign frames to animations (JSON files normally hold sprite sizes, locations and pivot point info when you pack a sprite sheet) .

3) Some kind of basic building frame for animations would be good to link together special actions.

     For example - walk -> turn.

Could also be used for sorting out animations like jumping - jumping + shooting.  If we could have some kind of matrix for actions assigned to action keys (jump / shoot / action) for example.

For example Jump would have:

No button =  Jump animation

Jump = Double Jump animation

Shoot =  Jumping + shooting animation

Action = Dash animation.

Don't have to have any extra movement code (no dash movement), but just play the animation.  This would allow the user to see if the animations flow into each other better.

Either way, I like your program and I'll be buying it later today.

Cheers,

Mike.

How about automatically updating a spritesheet if edits are made. It's a little tedious reloading a sprite every time I make a change.

Developer(+2)

Definitely planned! Will likely be a focus after this upcoming update. Thanks for the feedback :)

Hi, Grog! This is helping us a lot in the development of projects. Thanks for the effort. It would be amazing if you can add a shooting feature to the characters, with projectiles that can impact against objects. Just to test shooting animations and bullets :) Also damage/death animations on other characters on scene would be really helpful. We shoot other characters, and check how those animations works on them. Keep up the great work, we love it!
