So I finally got the new update, and I am about to open shop, but I have a few questions.

1. How do you put a pickaxe in your inventory? I see there is definetly a 4-slot inventory on the bottom right of the screen.

2. What is the purpose of the thing you burn wood with that looks way to much like a pizza oven? What is it in the first place?

3. For some reason when I bring up the menu to switch between shields, swords, axes, ect., I can ONLY select shields. The other options are darker than the shield and I cannot select them. Help?

ok so
1) after you assemble the pickaxe push e to pick it up. the one on the bench is not assembled yet even though it looks like it is.

2) i believe that's the smelter for the ores you get from the mine, though i have yet to try this out myself.

3) you have to have heated ingots on the anvil and be looking at it(or at least in it's general area, haven't tested yet)  before you can make your selection, as the available selections change with the number of ingots.
