You actualy can walk on water using building plans. If you place plans of for example generals storagesin a connected line (not conecting with the place that you use to interact with the building), than you can walk on water. It is not possible to get to other islands than the one below the start, because you arent able to place plans of buildings in chunks you havent discovered.

You talking the deep water?  
Because you can't place buildings in the deep water and you can walk through the shallow water without needing anything.

Yeah sorry had an older version my world is now unplayable crap. I am standing in the middle of water and i cant move. That sucks!
