Layers

I would love a layer system if possible.

For example, then people could build multiple buildings with different modular floors, but export each floor individually so I can use them as modular assets in engine. It would make building multiple modular assets a lot quicker as you would be able to compare and check fitment easily, and do longer build sessions without back tracking to rebuild, hold shift, select a layer and move it etc.

This would also be great it if worked when importing a new model with an older one, meaning easier management. So I could build say a gun on a battleship, while a colleague builds the deck, then once merged we can still access our respective layers to final tweaks or asset replacement.

It would be very handy for rapid prototyping and perhaps would be beneficial for people who are looking to write procedural generation scripts that could generate new content on a new layer.

I'm still new to the software but really enjoying it, so thank you.

I agree, this feature would be phenomenal.

I would go so far as to a Photoshop or Gimp like object/layer system where we can see all objects, layer them, rename them, etc.
