Hello everyone!

This is my first game in Itch.io. It is still in development.

What is Without Escape?

Without Escape is a point and click horror graphic adventure inspired by those first person graphic adventures with pre-rendered backgrounds from the 90s.

Story

You wake up in a cold winter night because you hear some weird noises, and decide to investigate. Soon you will discover that something really bad is happening. Will you be able to endure these horrible events?

Screenshots and Trailer

You can see more information in my Itch.io page: https://bumpy-trail-games.itch.io/without-escape

Development is progressing nicely: I will keep you informed of my updates.

Hope you like  it!

Thank you very much for the feedback and support.

It was necessary to modify the music in the original version of the game I used some buggy instruments that generated clipping and distortion. I don't know why I thought it was ok to release the game with that bad audio quality. I have used new instruments and improved the audio mixing to enhance the quality.

In regards to environments, I'm quite satisfied with the result. I have improved the quality and detail in them. Of course it can be improved further, but it's a matter of time and resources. In the original game I already tried to achieve realism, but it was just that I didn't have the skills. Environments are still being worked on, so they are subject to change.

I wrote an article in my blog about one of the tricks I use to add dynamism to static pre-rendered backgrounds. Making them a little bit more dynamic helps to express the intended mood for that room better. Please check it out! English is not my first language so I hope it is easy to understand.

It's pretty hot in here isn't it?

Thank you very much!

Here's another little update. Just a new environment I'm working on. In this case, in order to achieve animation, it has to be a looping video. The video lags a little bit in Unity each time it reaches the loop point. But hopefully it's not too noticeable.

I wrote another article about creating effects that add dynamism to the static backgrounds of Without Escape. This is about a different technique I use to add flickering to lights.

Here are some menus. These still are work in progress. What do you think? I still have to change those white buttons in the main menu.

Hi!

Hot damn, this looks really good! If you need any help with sound, please hit me up. This looks like it has a fair amount of promise for a first game!

Thank you very much, I'm glad that you like it! It's not my first game, but it is the first game I'm releasing on Itch.io. Also thanks for your offer, but I don't need any help right now.

It's been a while since the last time I posted here, but I've been working on Without Escape, polishing the game and all that.

And today I'm proud to announce that the game will be released on April 24 and it will cost $4.89 during the first week (30% discount). The game will return to its original price of $6.99 a week later.

The original soundtrack of the game will be also available for those who enjoy its music; it will cost $1.99.

You can also check the new trailer on Youtube:

I hope you enjoy the game!
