To solve this issue you can try this:

Use this command in the terminal if you can't open the file: 

% sudo chmod -R 755 /Users/YourUsername/Downloads/Elementallis.app

You'll need to change "YourUsername" for your username or the location if the app is not in your Downloads folder.

It worked for us, we are also using an M1 Mac and it works well after this :)
