Notes after 4+ hours

Hey FrogHop! My buddy Joe showed me this game yesterday, and I decided to check it out today. After 4+ hours straight, I'd say you have a pretty good game! A couple notes I took down while playing (I originally had notes about the Inv. system, but after reading the forums, it appears you are already aware of those issues ;) :

  • If the player is standing in the spot where a chest appears, the player will be stuck inside the chest. This happened to me with the 3 crystal chest. I placed the last crystal in it's place while standing in the middle of the crystals, and it appeared on top of me, I wasn't able to move, and had to start a new game. I just saw another post bringing up the problem. Looks like I'm a little late to the game!
  • Game experiences heavy lag with many dropped items on screen, making it very difficult to play before you unlock the automation skill. Obviously, having many instances running at once will slow things down, but maybe if you have multiple of the same item (Coins, for example) they would stack into a single animation.
  • A small coin making work around, that maybe you've already solved, is that Iron Ore sells for 2 coins, Coal sells for 2 coins, but Iron Ingots only sell for 3. Maybe you did this on purpose, but when I got into the late game and just wanted gold for buying more islands, I didn't see the point in making ingots (until I got the "Ingots-to-gems" skill)
  • Lastly, my play-through came to an abrupt end when I wasn't paying attention to my hunger while chopping down trees, and was only given 1 warning before starving too death, losing my last heart. Maybe I was mistaken, but I think I only got the warning on the last hit before starving, which seemed like not quite enough warning, especially when I was in a groove and just swingin' away.

All that being said, I was able to get past these small issues, and thoroughly enjoyed the game! Looking forward to the next build!

Thanks for the great feedback!

Some of these issues actually weren't on my radar at all! So good thing you brought these up.

The lag thing is pretty much solved I think, you guys will need to test it for me with a LOT of items on the floor at once but it's 100% stable on my PC. We will see what happens with the next build!

I will keep an eye on the other issues :D

Glad I could help! Started up a new round today and caught some more things you may or may not be aware of!

  • When loading in from a saved game, the player is sometimes able to walk through some created objects. Attached is a screenshot of me walking inside the market.
  • After the hammer/pillar chest island, trees and rocks can spawn on the smashed pillars, making them unable to be chopped down, unless you aim at the block above the ground block.
  • When selecting an item from the inventory, if the item currently in your hand is throwable, it will be thrown across the map.
  • Lastly, and I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, when eating, if you don't let the white progress bar fill in, you lose that amount of food you ate, requiring you to slow down your eating, especially with high filling foods like Steak and Fish.

That's it for today! Hope any of this was helpful!

Thaaaanks! :)

I've recently hit many of the same marks as Elijah after having 16 total hours of play across 8 different saves (had to delete saves a few times do to bugs that have been listen in bug reports).

  • Any object placed on both land and wood boards will be partially ables to be walked through. (as shown above)
  • Fish traps in a large quantity cause frame lag, I had a total of 53 fish traps down and was dropping around 10 frames when they all went into the caught animation.
  • On very rare occasions while shift placing down wooden boards and fish traps I managed to place on in between the grids of placeable objects, this was ok for the fish trap since they can be broken but the boards just left an odd space that couldn't be crossed and built upon.
  • The total number of items I could have on the ground after making a fresh world and mining/waiting and gathering enough to crash myself was a little over 5k
  • Many processed goods are not worth making for money which leads to a tad bit off a lull in gameplay after getting my 13th island and having the next cheapest island be 16k+
  • The Market expansion that gives the market more slots would crash me after trying to get to the market and would revert the point spent but not give me a credit to spend again, so at level 26 I had 23 points spent, I tried it twice.
  • The mining laser ended up causing large amounts of lag as resources would sit on the ground and I would forget to grab them on my far off island
  • In regards to eating food, Using shift/ctrl to eat food and waiting for the bar to finish works as intended but eating food while the bar exists in any form causes it to reverse in progress.
  • I had a really fun bug after going afk and a stack of 7 rocks on 1 spot had spawned in nearby.

I've really enjoyed this so far and cannot wait for it to release will 100% be on my to buy list
