Dear User,

Do you love playing videogames, coding, making art (such as composing music, pixel art, 3D modelling and so on…) and playing with OpenSource software (It’s free! :D) ?

We are looking for people like you!

If you feel confortable with the above sentence; please continue reading. This may interest you. If you are reading this, is because you love videogames and may want to become a part of an international online team of videogames development, then you are in the right place!.

But first, let me introduce myself. My name is Ginés, and I’m a Telecommunications Engineering student from Spain. I love experimenting in many areas of computing, especially 3D and software development. And of course that also include videogames! (Have a look later at my website portfolio -> https://ginestopo.github.io/    )

I started my own videogames some months ago (I attach some of my works below) and would be nice if I could form a small team to continue developing it through github, finishing it, and publishing it in Itch.io and other platforms. Or maybe starting a new project we all have passion about.

Level designed by me but sprites from; https://0x72.itch.io/dungeontileset-ii

Character designed by me for a pixel art adventure game

The main idea is what follows:

  • Recruit some awesome and multidisciplinar people from all over the internet and creating a Discord server.
  • We’ll create a github repository so everyone can make a commit any time you want (at any time!) This means this is a flexible Project. You only will work on it when YOU want and have time! Remember we are here to do what we love, not to stress in any way.
  • From time to time, when we can, we’ll do meetings in discord to supervise the Project; sharing new mechanics ideas we all have in mind and other cool stuff to add, or maybe talking about bugs to solve.
  • Once the game is ready, we’ll publish it! If it is something decent: we can start a Kickstarter and make it a reasonably paid videogame, so we can all earn something for our effort. This needs to be clear. This is not a paid job; It is NOT a job indeed. At least it is not paid, until we finish a Project, we can make profit of. The important thing about this is to have fun doing what we love. Nevertheless, if you do what you love with passion, it automatically becomes something that people will enjoy playing, and that means money. This also need to be mentioned: You won’t spend a single euro/dollar/pound during the development.
  • If we feel comfortable doing what we do. After finishing some projects, we could think about registering ourselves as an Official Indie Games Development Company! Sounds Good uh?

Software we’ll use (all of them are free and most opensource):

Blender 3d: Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, motion graphics, interactive 3D applications, virtual reality, and computer games

Godot Engine: Godot is a cross-platform, free and open-source game engine released under the MIT license. Designed to create both 2D and 3D games targeting PC, mobile, and web platforms. You can code inside it using C# or GD-script (a godot script based on Python).

GITHUB: Is a provider of Internet hosting for software development and version control using Git. GitHub is where over 65 million developers shape the future of software, together. Contribute to the open source community. This is the place where we will host the Project for everyone to have it available in realtime, anywhere.

We need the following people with any of this knowledge:

  • Curious people in terms of technology.
  • Some coding experience may be awesome in any language, but it is not a requirement.
  • You are a 2d or 3D artist or you suck at it but at least you have tried (both are welcome :D). Right now we are working with pixel art but any kind of art is welcome.
  • You know something about level design or you don’t but you would like to learn about it.
  • You have been experimenting with music production or audio FX’s.
  • You have been experimenting with Godot Engine or any videogame engine before.
  • You are over 18 yo.
