A linux version is it planned ? 

Not planned, sorry. There're a lot of Windows only dlls in the project and I don't have experience working with Linux to port it smoothly. 

Has anybody tried it with Wine? I'd like to know how well, or if, it works before buying

I could confirm that it runs fine on proton-ge.
