the controller does work but being handicapped individual these controls for moving the camera and walking with the dpad i find to be difficult to achieve, this a excellent creation though, Is it possible to remap for use with thumb sticks ? 

not in-game, but you can use something like Joy2Key or XPadder to do it depending on the type of controller you're using (XInput or DInput, respectively)
