Have you considered that people are allowed to like unusual things? Sure, there's a bad reputation for being very forward and horny, but I've had a lot more...concerning hentai sent to me than porn of any other kind. I probably can't describe it any further than "concerning" without breaking ToS or some law out there. I ignore it the best I can, as I do most things that upset me. It could be a fun concept. I would like to imagine a game where you're infected and try to find a cure, which would go well along with the original game.
I don't hate furries, since I believe that not all of them are fucked up in the head (I mainly say this because of the weird fetishes that usually go along furries, including paedophilia and zoophilia which I've seen furries defending this on Twitter, but of course, I assume it's a minority) and although I'm not against making a positive game about furries (even if I would not play it most likely), I think that in the same universe as the original game it wouldn't make any sense, hence why I suggest if making one, make it about finding the cure to save humanity.
