What about license of free games?

Hello everyone!

What is the license for free games? Can I, for example, take (download) them as a publisher and publish them on other sites?

It depends on the game in question. As a general rule, no unless the original creator of it explicitly says it’s fine.

To add on to that, some games will ship with a license file that indicates what you’re allowed to do with it. In that case, you can refer to that and see what terms (if any) allow redistribution.

It’s still probably best to ask the creator though, as a matter of courtesy.

Please tell me, is it possible to set up a filter in the search for the presence of a license for the game?

Yes, see the license filters in the directory. But keep in mind that legal and ethical are different things.

That may be the most suspicious question I’ve seen someone ask all year

OP wants to steal a bunch of games and put them on coolmathgames or something.

So it means, even if I can download the game (there is a download button), this does not give me the right to use this game for any of my purposes (commercial, for example, and distribute)

In the majority of cases, downloading a game gives you only the right to play it. Re-distributing it is a major no, with very few exceptions. If a game has no license, by default in most countries, you are not allowed to publish it in any way.

Please respect the time people put on their creation and don’t try to profit from other people’s work.
