Monster Hit Dice

heyo, just cracked open my copy once again and wanted to inquire about something.

Monsters have hit dice and that determines their inventory spaces, that's really neat and I love the inventory mechanics.

One thing that I was a little confused about was about the contested rolls, i.e. player vs monster combat. Players roll 2d6+stat, do monsters also roll 2d6+their attack modifier? My mind is constantly saying to roll the hit die as their attack roll, but I'm not sure if that'll make things much harder for the players.

One other thing, it definitely is a roll of 2d6+stat for players, when do they assign extra dice to their roll, before or after they get their results? Thanks for reading, I really really love this book!

Hey, as for the last question: I'd let them add dice whenever they wanted, simply because that could be super tense. But it's totally fair to limit it to only before.

As for the monsters: yes, monsters roll 2d6+ whatever their attack modifier is. Tho, honestly, using the HD as a dice pool could be really fun. There's probably a cool hack in there.
