Also, if I try to start a new online game, the input fields vanish and I see only the animated background and the links at the top, but nothing more happens.

Maybe this is because no key was added, but due to the problem with adding the key, I cannt add my key (which by the way is saved and shown to me when I click on my username in the top left)
