I got excited for a second, but this seems to be entirely unfounded (i.e. bad data scraping, Google...). Or is there really a version in the works?

It is in development, although it is still extremely early. I also am only working on Taiji stuff in my spare time now, so it will be a while.

Hey Matthew! How long do you think a while could potentially be? I want to set a reminder to check back on this because I plan on insta-buying this the moment it's available on the Switch :)

I'm not really sure. Whenever it's done. Hopefully before the end of the year. I'm still planning on just doing it myself, because I want to ensure the quality is good, but my time is very limited right now. :D

Thanks for the reply! I was just watching some of your development log videos on YouTube and I can certainly understand why you would take on that challenge yourself, to make sure it's all done correctly and in a maintainable way. Best of luck with that process! I hope it goes smoothly for you and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the Switch release :)
