This makes me very suspicious. My antivirus software had to remove the .EXE after the program was installed because it was part of the Heuristic Virus. Is this a "false positive" or something else?

Yes, this is indeed a false positive, it is because the .exe file contains a DLL file commonly used in viruses, I don’t remember what it specifically was called, but I extracted it once, and the DLL was targeted by Windows Defender. It is harmless, just a little scary.
The false positive shouldn’t be a problem, and you should be able to use the program with ease.
