PDF Export freezes app

Just purchased. Made a short MD and saved same. The file was selected in the All Files pane. Went to File menu /Export/PDF. The save dialog opens and then freezes - can't do anything except close the app . I have version 0.39 of the app. I am working on Windows 11 Home Version 22H2. Aspire  Laptop i5-1035G1 CPU and 12GB memory. A bit disappointed - unless I have done something wrong?

I’m sorry that’s not working correctly for you!

I’m sure it’s not anything you’ve done wrong, but there could be something unexpected going on.

Can you check the following things and report back?

  • Does it always occur with the same document?
  • Does it occur with the example document (created by pressing the question mark icon in the upper left corner)
  • Does it occur with a document that is a simple paragraph of text?
  • Does it occur when you export to HTML instead of PDF?
  • Do you have another machine you can try on?

I have tried again with the example doc. First time I tried to export the dialog became non responsive for a while. I clicked on it and it disappeared - but the program did not crash. So I tried again and was able to export the pdf. Tried my file and it also exported. I wonder if the the original freeze/ non responsiveness was the program reading the file list of the output directory but taking a long time to do so. Once it had read the files in the dir it worked OK. Sorry to have bothered you but it appears that it is now working OK and I know that eventually the dialog will "unfreeze".

I’m glad it’s working! Hopefully that can be improved for other people as well.

Do you have a large number of files in the folder (or subfolders) you’ve loaded in Deepdwn, out of curiosity? Or very large markdown files?

Do you have an older machine, or are your files stored on a slower drive?
