You must run the game with the art assets, or this bug will occur. I suggest you try using joiplay, all android users say the game runs much better using it.
i have the same issue, except it only throws the error if i skip intro. then it bricks. i dont want to play intro and scroll through pages of oversized text, so i deleted it. everything is fine -- terrible UI scaling aside -- until then.
