I forget which day it is or who I was going for at the time (Keisuke or Shoichi) but after closing the app for the night, I reopened it to see it reload my position and then freeze with the UI hidden. I couldnt bring it up, proceed, or reverse, and even after trying multiple things I had to reinstall the app and start over to continue

Next time a save breaks, you can go into the "saves" file using a file manager app (the system one works, or you can also download one through the app/play store) and delete the most recent save. Don't delete them all, just the most recent one or two named something like "temp save". Guess this isn't a very permanent solution and doesn't address the root cause, but it prevents loosing lots of progress.
