Hello !

I've been playing a bit yesterday after purchasing the game but today morning the game gets deleted by antivirus

Reason:

Trojan:Win32/Wacatac.B!ml

Any feedback ?

Thanks

Same with me. I won't install it for now. BTW how do you get it to run anyway?

Just purchased, windows gives me a soft warning and when I click run anyway it says it contains a virus and deletes the .exe...

Feels a little fishy that the dev hasn't responded to this or others saying the same in the bug report thread. Probably nothing, but it's a bad look.

Same, nothing for several days and woke up today with no .exe

I've just bought the game and tried to extract the files in the zip file to my PC and got the same virus warning.  The file "idle bloodline.exe" , and possibly others, were left out of the file extraction process.  I think this is probably the file you would click to start the game.  I'm going to try again once the dev has responded to the issue.  It looks like a great game, I hope we can get a solution soon :)

You can manually add the idle bloodlines.exe program to windows exceptions if you want to play, but this absolutely should not have been a problem in the first place

Hmm, feels dodgy given the lack of response, but hopefully it can be addressed, as I'm keen to try this game out.

It is very dodgy. He also seemed to have his posts removed from the incremental game subreddit.

I think that was related to him posting about getting booted from Steam for using AI-generated art. That started a few days of threads on the subreddit's stance on AI-generated art. I'm just speculating. Not sure if he removed them due to bad PR or if a mod sided with the people who are against for-profit games using AI-generated art instead of paying artists. I'm not stating any form of opinion on this matter, just speaking to what I observed on the subreddit. I do know that this game feels like a monumental undertaking to get to a well-polished end-state, and I would still gladly pay $5 for it without monster/hero art until it make sense to invest in the artwork to re-enable a major revenue stream such as Steam. I love the idea and I'd play it with even placeholders for the art.

It's sad that people that cry babies get what they want. There is 0 problem with the Ai generated art. Who want to buy the game buy it who don't want don't buy simple as that.

Also wanted to mention for the thread, that downloading the itch launcher and choosing the setting to launch games in sandbox mode tackles the problem without needing to add the executable to antivirus/malware whitelist. The game runs fine in sandbox mode. What sandboxing does is run the executable in a separate, isolated "container" within the OS. Disclaimer: I have no idea how Itch implemented sandboxing under the hood and can't endorse it as actually secure, just saying that it's a feature in the launcher and it allows the game to run without being quarantined by AV/antimalware such as Defender.
